SRM University Ramapuram

The overall experience at SRM University Ramapuram has been good for me. I have mostly neutral comments about my college. While the teachers are helpful, the classroom atmosphere and teaching is not so great. The placements offered by the college is one of the biggest plus about the college.

The curriculum for BTech courses is such that 1st year all students have subjects only 1 or 2 subjects in each sem different on the basis of the department. But there after it's all department based subjects. There in 1 50 mark exam followed by 2 75 mark exam before final end sem exams of 100 marks.

SRM is well known for its placements especially in CSE department. SRM has managed to get 100% placements in last 4 5 years or so. Internship opportunities are not much but few companies do come and hire only few students. They do provide stipend in range of 10,000 rupees

There are various events and fests taking place in the campus throughout the year. Texus is the biggest of them all which is hosted by CSE department. There are also other like Aurganon on big scale. In Kattankulathur campus there are many more such events with Milan and Aarush being the biggest of them all.

The fees is somewhat at the expensive end in SRM University. For BTech programme the fees for every year is 1,90,000 apart from book and exam fees which will bring up the total to about 225000 for every year.

There is no loan facility offered by the college in my opinion in my knowledge at least. But there is scholarship awarded to brilliant students. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of the CGPA obtained by the students over the years.

The college does have many labs for computer science students and also for chemistry and physics laboratory. Few of the computer science labs have good systems while a few have old computers. The campus has 2 basketball court, 2 volleyball court and a badminton court. But they are not well maintained.

The students have to find and get in touch with seniors and alumni themselves in order to get help. They have been helpful to many in securing placements and guiding us as well. But there no alumni lecture or so to really help the students.

SRM University conducts it's entrance exam SRMJEE for admission in all of its branches. The selected students have to come to Chennai in Kattankulathur campus for counseling and after verification of all documents students get the admission.
