Course Curriculum Overview

4

My course curriculum of cse department seems fairly relevant as it covers topics like basic programming, data structures, algorithms, artificial intelligence, operating systems, cybersecurity, development, linux, python and even some maths courses that are required. Although, one cannot entirely depend on the course curriculum for internships and placements, but have to put some extra effort learning from other resources. There are 2 exams distributed evenly in the semester and are not very difficult, they do require some level of thinking but are doable if one understands the concepts.

Internships Opportunities

5

The college offers one of the best internship opportunities in the country. There are internships for the software development field, machine learning field, data analytics field and core fields of each department, which have to be done in the semester break at the end of third year. Apart from these, there are also opportunities available in startups of the alumni of the college in diverse fields like design, development, consultancy. Top recruiters include Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Sprinklr, Google, Amazon, Cisco, Sprinklr, Uber, Oracle offering stipend upto 2 lakhs per month.

Placement Experience

5

IIT BHU has got one of the best placements across all iits. The students become eligible for internships from the 5th semester and for placements from the 7th semester. The highest package was 1.68 cr and lowest being 10 lpa. Companies like Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Sprinklr, Google, JPMC, Salesforce, Nvidia, Uber, Oracle are some ofthe companies that gave offers. On average, 70 percent of the students get placed. After completing my degree I wish to pursue a job and earn for myself.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly academic fee is around 2,12,000 and there is a hostel and mess fee of 30,000 per year. For students belonging to categorise other than general, the fee is much lesser. There are multiple scholarships available for students having low family income, funded by the college and it's alumni.

Campus Life

5

The campus life here is amazing. Several fests and events occur across the year. There are 3 main fests, namely, Kashiyayatra, the cultural fest, Technex, the technical fest, and Spardha, the sports fest. Apart from these there is FMC weekend which is the fest of film and media council, E-summit, MUN and Jagriti, which is the fest of the social services council. A huge book stack is readily available in the library. All the classrooms are equipped with projector facility. The college has many extra curricular facilities available. There are many clubs to take part in it. Also, there is facility for around 18 sports in the campus. A student council, names SCS, works for the students of the college, holding sessions and events. It also aisa in academics and overall wellness. The orientation and induction is carried out by scs.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facility is average. It could be better. Hostel rooms have basic facilities like bed, table, chair, almirah and switchboards. Hostels have smaller rooms but a larger beautiful open garden area in between encouraging students to hang out outside of their rooms. There are also badminton courts in some hostels. There are generally 2 messes and a canteen inside the hostel, making it easier to eat unlike some colleges where all the eating spots are outside the hostel. Also, a vending machine is installed inside the hostel for when the mess and canteen closes. The meal quality in the mess is not the best. On special occasions, better food is made but on a daily basis it is average. The registration process for hostel includes submission of mess fee and certain other documents in hostel office alongwith filling a form.

Admission

I had applied to some other iits, as well as for computer science related fields in iiits and nits. I had also applied to some good engineering colleges in my neighbour like vjti, spit and coep. In accordance to the rank I achieved, IIT bhu was the best I could get. This college is better than some others as it has one of the best placement records among all iits. It is also one of the oldest institutes. The college culture is amazing. Admission in my college happens through jee advanced, for which one has to first clear jee mains and also clear a cutoff 75 percent in their school boards.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is up to the mark, and the faculty is fairly approachable, being ready to help if one puts the effort to seek help from them. Although, many students prefer to study from some alternate sources as in some cases it becomes difficult to understand what is being taught in the class. The professors of the Maths department seem amazing as they are generally much younger compared to that of other departments. There are two exams in a semester, midsem and endsem. Apart from these there may be quizzes, assignments and lab vivas. The course curriculum is relevant as it involves teaching skills that are required in the respective fields.

Night Life

3

The most common and favourite hanging out place of the campus is the limbdi corner, called as LC. All informal meetings take place here. It has a samosa chai stall for evening snacking, an amul parlour as well has two fruit shops for those wanting to snack healthy. In the evening, one can see students retiring from their classes or wishing to hang out, gathering here. These get closed by 7.30 pm in the evening. Apart from this there is a cafeteria in the college and two other fruit shops on different locations, a juice shop and another snacking stall. In close proximity is the hyderabad gate, known as hg, which takes you out of the campus and has several food stalls and restaurants for those wishing to have something different. Being an open campus, for the safety of the students, going out of the hostel after 11pm is prohibited. Also, those who are out have to be back by 1.15 am.

Placement Experience:

Integral University in the third of engineering asks us to take time out for placements training. Students who haven't done any internships are asked to do one or attend the workshops organized at the university. Thus in the final year, we are fully prepared and companies also are never disappointed as maximum students clear the interviews with ease.

My college has an average placement of 6LPA. Placement eligibility starts from the end of 5th semester, but when I got promoted to 5th semester, placements declined due the the restructuring in placement cell. So our batch missed the opportunity to attend any placements. In year 2022, the highest placement was around 22LPA and in year 2023, it declined to 9 LPA as there was restructuring in team. After getting my degree I will look for carrier opprotunities on my own, as I have not experienced any placement in my college years.
