Remarks
For every coin that has two sides, IGIT does lack certain features and options that should be improved. Features such as proper infrastructure to every hostel-like common rooms and gathering spots. Much expanded library facilities like access to research articles and publications. And also, providing digital platforms for teaching methods, which is the next big thing in the teaching industry. The management should also conduct a weekly grievance addressing session for listening to the problems of every student.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was framed by the Biju Pattnaik University of Technology, the state government university for all technical trades in Odisha. It was designed in a well-structured manner for four years of course. The initial first years were specifically focused on common branch papers, which were compulsory to attempt. Subjects like Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Mechanics, basic computer languages like C. C++, Database Management system, Physics, and Chemistry, etc.Following which the rest three years focused majorly on the branch subjects which were introduced from a basic level to increasing depth of technicalities, as to how the semesters went ahead. The daily lab sessions pertaining to the subject made the concepts clearer and understandable. The exams, which were held every six months, focused more on complete technical knowledge, and not just textbooks. The research work was quite active and spontaneous, hence it covered every corner of the concept dimensions.
Placement Experience
The placement statistics of IGIT Sarang was more than average, covering 75% of the success output. Some of them were TCS, VEDANTA, Jindal Steelworks, JSPL, Reverside, Wipro, Tata Steels, Bhushan Steels, Process map, and many other local industries. IGIT also provided internship opportunities to the students to industries like NALCO, SAIL-RSP, VEDANTA, TATA Steels, HINDALCO which offered the necessary industrial exposure and healthy platform to learn, with stipends from 12000-20000, depending upon the company offering the internship.

The entire fee structure for four years of Bachelors' program in Engineering was 2,25,000 INR. This includes semester fees, hostel fees, and examination fees. The first-year fees, including one-time counseling fees, totaled to 80,000 INR. The hostel accommodation was compulsory for every student (residential college). Further to this, there were minimal basic expenses, as the hostel provided evening snacks and a three-course meal every day.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provided opportunities for financially deprived students by offering different opportunities for availing scholarships. The state government provided "Medhabruti" scholarship offers a scholarship for students of good academic records in past, of 10,000 INR. Various other non-governmental scholarship providers were from FFE, IOCL scholarship and minorities scholarship offering from the range of 20,000-60,000 INR. The loan availing facility is always cordial and accessible for the students and provides them a hassle-free procedure throughout the application.
Campus Life
The campus life is more than awesome, with interactive events and programs. The relation between seniors and subordinates is interactive and friendly. IGIT stands for Zero tolerance on ragging, sexual harassment and any kind of negative vibes into the campus. The gender ratio for every department is 1:3, and it promotes education and reservation of seats for girls in every department. It includes application from other states conducted JEE exams like Assam, Punjab, Nagaland and most of the seven-sister northeast states, bringing in the diversity of culture. IGIT has active clubs on Robotics, Literary events, Sports, Coding, SSG, Library and NGO. These help the students to be active in all kinds of extracurricular activities, they like to be a part of.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fees were fixed for every semester, except 7th and 8th, of 12,000 INR. The final two semesters were about 15,000 INR due to individual room occupancy. Every year the students have to relocate to a different hostel, making it year-wise occupancy of students (1st, 2nd. 3rd and 4th).
Alumni/Alumna
We have a portal for the alumnus in our official college website to stay connected and share views and suggestions regarding the growth and development concerns of college. It builds a healthy and informative interaction community with alumni regarding internships, projects, and training news in different industries.
Admission
I got my admission into IGIT Sarang through my All India rank in OJEE. Although the cut off was pretty high for Mechanical seats, I managed to get into Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Choosing this branch was beneficial because of interactive industrial exposure and opportunities into a hands-on experience. The admission process was through general counseling, on the basis of rank and selection chronology of seat options for various branches and their colleges. Results of which showed us the allotment and intimation letter for reaching the college, on an allotted date and admission procedure was completed by submission of documents and certificates.
Faculty
The faculty of the college mostly consisted of Ph.D. scholars and M.tech graduates with 10+ years of research and 5+ years of teaching experience. The best thing about the faculty group was that everyone was reachable and made us comfortable in asking questions regarding academia, research, doubt clearing, and analysis. Qualified as much they were, the best part was how easier the understanding of the subject was done for students.
