Remarks

The college has good infrastructure but is unable to use it to its full potential. It lacks good teachers

Course Curriculum Overview

4

There are a total of 6 semesters in the BSc honors course in our college it is under North Bengal University. Each semester there are a total of five papers to attempt 3 of honors and 2 of general subjects apart from these we have practicals as well as internal exams to add up for the final result

Placement Experience

0.5

It is BSc college companies do not come to give placements. The student from the computer science department are invited to other colleges for a placement opportunity

College Events

2.5

The college has freshers in each department. The college has its own freshers of all departments together separately. It celebrates all the national festivals like the independence day etc. The college has issued a list of observation day which is to be celebrated. The college also celebrates the birthday of doctor A.P.J.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Each semester fee is approximately 3000 So it adds up to 3000×6=18000 Other expenses include travel charges Fooding charges and lodging which is dependent on the places you stay in. In total for me, the charges are almost 7000 per month including the food lodging.

Fees and Financial Aid

As I belong to scheduled caste group I have opted for a scholarship given to minority castes For it, I had to fill up a form which was provided by the college itself

Campus Life

4

According to our department, the female is very less in number in comparison to male, but in departments like botany, the number of girls is more in comparison to the boys. In general, the girl to boy ratio in our college is almost equal but it varies from department to department

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students are helpful, ragging is not a culture of our college, they are caring and seemed to be quite studious

Admission

I had to fill up a form issued by the college in the month of June, then my name was shortlisted out on the basis of my 12 mark sheet, I had to pay the admission fee and collect the receipt, then undergo document verification to get admission in the college, the document required were 1)10th admit card 2)12th admit card 3)12th mark sheet 4)caste certificate 5)migration certificate

Faculty

3

The faculty of our college is of moderate level. They do not indulge in student activities. The politics of our college is almost negligible. The teachers help us if we ask for. The classes are almost regular but we often get holidays due to irregular classes. I would rate 5 out of 10 in term of college faculty

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
