My college Biswanath College of Agriculture,AAU

Due to the implementation of the 6th Dean Committee ( New Education Policy), the course curriculum has changed very much. It focuses more on practicality than theory now. Along with that programmes like RAWEP (internship) and ELP enhance the course efficiency.

The Assam Agricultural University has a large chain of KVKs. The internship is done under KVKs. Approximately 15-20 thousand rupees per month is given during the internship. The internship period is for 6 months. But it's rumoured that after the implantation of the new education policy, the internship period is reduced to 3 months.

The course is 4 years containing 8 semesters . Each semester fee is approximately 15000 rupees .Additional hostel fees is 6000 to 8000 rupees. . But fees may change in depending upon the year of admission and the semester you are taking admission in . And the mess fee per month is 2300 . The college provide 2 type of major scholarships .1st for students admited through icar , they got 18000 rupees per semester only if they score more than 7.5 CGPA . 2nd type of scholarship is for students admitted through state exam , they got 9000 rupees per semester only if they secure position in top 10% of the class . Additionally for state students they got approximately 20,000 rupees per month during RAWEP internship program. College campus very big with a rural feel .

The college have a decent indoor stadium . It also have badminton court, football ground and cricket pitch. It has a big Libarary with large number of Books collection. Many cultural events are organised in the college auditorium. Canteen of college have all essentials for students. College festival "Luminux" is organised every year . Classrooms are clean and air-conditioned.

Every 2 students are allotted in 1 room. Each student got a bed, a table and a wardrobe in their room. Bathroom and toilet conditions are not very good but they are usable. Mess food is very tasty.

I also applied for a BSc Hons botany. But the agriculture course is more interesting than that. It also has more scope. The majority of agriculture students got a job. The admission process at my college is through CUET or CET exams And according to your score in the exam, you will get your college allotment. Biswanath College of agriculture is the 2nd best agriculture college in Assam after College of Agriculture Jorhat.

Students have 8 to 10 numbers of subjects each semester. Each subject classes are allotted according to the credit no. of the course. Each department has 3-4 teachers , including professors, assistant professors, associate professors, sr. scientist, jr. scientist and lab instructors and field managers etc. Exam of each semester is conducted in 2 stages: mid-term ( for 30 marks ) and end-term (for 70 marks ). Additionally for subjects having practicals, 50 marks practical exam is conducted. For results in every semester GPA is calculated according to the credit system. After passing each semester CGPA ( the average GPA till that semester ) is calculated. The results are published online.

Ther is a gym on the college campus which is free for students. After classes students play volleyball, football, cricket etc. The canteen is open till 7 pm. The library is open till 7:30 pm. Campus entry time is 10 pm. The college is near to the Vishwanath town.
