Course Curriculum Overview

5

The theory is pretty well-rounded, covering topics like microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, and cell biology. You get a lot of exposure to the core concepts that you need to know if you’re aiming to work in research or any kind of lab-based career. The practical sessions complement the theory too, so you’re not just stuck with textbooks. One of the reasons I chose this course is because it gives you a good balance of theoretical knowledge and lab work. The curriculum also includes aspects like immunology, microbiological techniques, and virology, which felt super relevant for future jobs in the field or even further studies. when it comes to exams, they’re spaced out in a way that’s manageable, but they can be tough. The difficulty level is fair, but it definitely requires good preparation.

Placement Experience

3

students generally become eligible for campus placements from their 6th semester onward. So, by the time you’re nearing the end of your course, you get the chance to start applying and attending placement drives, but you shouldn't have any backpapers. Some of the companies that usually show up are Biocon, Dr. Reddy’s, Novozymes, Syngenta, and Accenture. Highest package is 9 lakhs per annum and lowest is 2-3 lakhs per annum. 60% of the students get placed as Research Associate, Lab Technician, Quality Control Analyst etc. As for my plans after getting the degree, I’m leaning towards either getting into research or joining a biotech company in a role like R&D or Product Development. I might even consider pursuing a master's degree in biotechnology or bioinformatics to specialize further.

Fees and Financial Aid

80000 per year Extra 50000 for NRIs Admission fees rs 500 Scholarships available for deserving candidates. fee structures differ based on the category of the student (e.g., Karnataka, Non-Karnataka, NRI).

Campus Life

5

Pratibha which is an annual intracollege fest that ends with a DJ night, then comes visages which is an intercollege fun event. Then, for the more technical side, we’ve got Technovation, which is the technical fest, usually held around October or November. It’s packed with workshops, coding challenges, and all sorts of tech-related activities. When it comes to the library, it’s got a pretty decent collection. There’s a wide range of books and journals on microbiology, biotechnology, and related fields. Plus, the online journals and databases are easily accessible, so you can dig into recent research papers and updates in your field. The campus has facilities for sports like cricket, football, basketball, and volleyball, and there’s also a gym and indoor games available. We’ve got groups like the Biotech Club, the Environment Club, and even the Cultural Club, which all do a great job of getting students involved outside the classroom.

Admission

So, when I was applying for colleges, I also looked at a few other options. I applied to LPU and got in, but honestly, it was too far from where I live, so that was a dealbreaker for me. I didn’t want to be that far from home, so I passed on it. I also applied to Christ University, but the fee structure was much higher than what I was comfortable with. The quality of education seemed good, but the financial aspect just didn’t add up for me. Then there was Kristu Jayanti College, which seemed pretty solid, but they offered Biotechnology and Genetics, not Biotechnology and Chemistry, which was a bit of a mismatch for me. I wanted a more balanced focus on both fields, so I didn’t go with that option either. As for the admission process at St. Joseph’s, it was pretty straightforward. The eligibility was based on your 12th-grade marks, and they did have an entrance exam for biotech, but it wasn’t too hard to prepare for. For Msc. Programme the college conducts its own exams

Faculty

The university maintains a favorable faculty-to-student ratio, ensuring personalized attention. Faculty members are generally approachable and supportive. There are some faculties too who fails to grab the attention of students and are not engaging with the students. The assessment structure typically includes Continuous Internal Assessments (CIA), mid-semester exams, and end-semester exams. The difficulty level varies by subject and instructor. Some students find the exams manageable, while others may find them challenging.

Night Life

5

Night life is amazing as the college is situated in the heart of bangalore. You also feel safe to roam at night because the area is very lively As for people living in college hostel, the curfew is till 6pm after which you are expected to be inside the campus. The college also has a 3rd shift which is the night batch having timings from 5 pm to 9 pm. So even the library is open till 10 pm which enables us to study even at night. There are nearby gyms like cultfit and 4k fitness. Also the famous church street and glens bakehouse is walkable distance. Closest metro station is only 1.8km away. The locality is mainly residents which makes it safe for students to stay there. For some fresh air you can visit the richmond park which is open until 8pm. Food joints are also available whether it be to grab a snack or have a meal. College canteen is also open in the evening for a short time which you can have dinner or an evening snack. There is bustop right next to the college for easy access.

SST is a new enginrering college that started its first batch in 2023. Since the first batch is still studying, final job placements have not happened yet. However, students in the second year (1st batch) have done really well when it comes to internship opportunities. From this batch, 96.3% students around 158 total got internships at well known companies in India and Abroad. The highest stipend offered was around 2 lac per month, and the average is 31363 per month. Students got internships offers from big companies like Swiggy, Zomato, Apple Developer Academy, etc.

First of all, there isn't a passed out batch yet(as of 2025). The first batch enrolled in 2023 and they are currently in internship period as they've planned. Placement will be offered at the end of 4th year. Although for internships, around 50+ companies visited and 96% of students got internships. The average stipend was 30,000 INR and the highest stipend was 200,000 INR (non-domestic). My plans after getting the degree are to gain some experience and go for a masters in business if possible.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The best part of Scaler School of Technology is its course and curriculum. The subjects we learn are very useful and match what tech companies are looking for today. Unlike other colleges, we don’t study topics like physics or chemistry that aren’t needed for computer science. Instead, we learn about things like blockchain, cybersecurity, machine learning, mechatronics, and more. This helps us keep up with the latest technology. Even though the schedule can be a bit busy, it’s worth it because we learn a lot. We always bring our laptops to class, which makes learning more practical . The curriculum and teaching style are already well-planned, and if anything needs to change, they fix it quickly . We have mid-term exams every 1.5 month and final exams every 3 months, which helps us stay on track.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the curriculum is prepared for us, it does not feel like we are ready yet (im in first year) we need need a tad more time and depth in areas like DSA for interviews. the exam frequency is high, timings feel rushed into, specially with how difficult the exam is. more exams are application and concept-based, they are designed to test your 100% knowledge of the subject being taught.
