Course Curriculum Overview

Our college had a tendency of hosting Food fest since we were a hospitality college. Every month there were food fests depicting all the major departments of a hotel and as a team we work in it and make it a success. Taking part in the food fests are an exposure that was needed the most since everyone started planning out their own events, own food and beverages which have us an insight on how the real industry works. Coming about course curriculum, only the practical experiences of the students need to be improved apart from that, everything is best. Every semester exam had a period of 4 months. With increasing syllabus in each semester.

Placement Experience

Iihm hails with its campus placement due to its strong intership exposures, Brands like Marriot International, Leela, Taj, Oberoi, etc etc who will eyes closed choose a fresher from IIHM, such is the name and significance of the college. So, after my internship in 2nd year we had to finish the 5th semester exams and we become eligible for the Campus placements, coming to hospitality recruitments, Hotels offer packages like 1.5-2.3L P.A. Then again, there are recruitment for Management trainee programs where the brands recruit freshers from the colleges and groom them according to their standard for 1.5 years and post the time period, they become eligible to become managers and assistant managers with a payment grade of 6.5-8 L P.A. but then again it gets a little tough to crack through because of its high standards and great work knowledge. I myself had cracked Marriott MT and work in Ritz Carlton Pune. I belive my college hails at a 100% placement because of its strong intership exposures which give people a chance to go back to their previous brands and start their career.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hello! My name is Shrujan Behera and I'm a graduate from the international institute of hotel Management, Kolkata batch 2017-2020. I still remember the first day at college, it was a nice summer Morning, me, still immature, entering a new world was very excited as well as anxious for the new journey ahead. But as the saying goes, everything happens for a reason, I guess that was the best day that happened in my life and so my college life began!! With a annual fee structure of 1.98L, IIHM gave us all the right kind of opportunities to grow our knowledge and experience and again with a very vast and opportunistic internship experience from all over the world. I finished my intership from France which have me a indepth knowledge about the industry that I'm going to be part of once I graduate. It made me the man the society wanted and the kid inside me got hidden somewhere! Anyway! After coming back from intership, my college ensured whatever the experiences gained during the time of internship came into use and even guided us to new routes. The fee structure is my college increases every year due to the increase demand of hospitality in the country. I never opted for the hostel but I believe during my tenure, it was 6k a month. The fees are also relieved for other castes like SC,ST. The college also offers scholarship to students who score 80 and above in their 12th boards. So, yeah, thats it, this was my college International institute of hotel Management

Admission

Along with the entrance exam of IIHM, I had also applied to colleges like Symbiosis and NMIMS, Mumbai but since I always had this passion about food and Beverages I was certain that I'm going to join IIHM and pursue my career as a hospitality professional. In terms of rejection, I was not rejected from any of the colleges I appeared the exams of, Now, after I appeared for the entrance, I was called for a group discussion and after qualifying came the personal interview round, since I had no idea what to expect and what not to expect for my first personal interview in my life and again. My interviewer asked me about Soft drinks and asked me to speak about Coco-cola for a full 1 minute, I guess, that was one of the longest 1 minute in my life. Hahahhaha But again, once everything was done, I was waiting for my results very anxiously and when the result came out, to my surprise I was very happy to know that I was the only one in the group to get selected because of my communication skills and leadership skills. And then began the journey of my Hospitality Management

Faculty

The college faculty was one of the best faculties I've studied under, the faculties at the college were very much approachable and friendly in each manner. Even being a class of 70 students in each class, our HOD and his team of amazing faculties made sure each and every student is looked after and talen care of. One of the most amazing persons I've met is Mr. Bhaskar Sengupta who is the HOD of F&B department at the college. He is someone with whom you can share everything and he still will be supporting you. There were none faculty members whom I didn't like. Each and everyone of them gave me something to learn from. Being a 3 year course, it invites 6 semesters and while your 3rd Semester includes industrial internships for the students. During the exam tenure, 5% of the college attendance fail to secure a passing mark while the rest 95% fly out with wonderful marks.

Interview Experience

5

Yes, as mentioned earlier I appeared for the group discussion and topic was "Division of the country post independence" and I had some points to prove too, so yes I got selected since I was a good speaker.

Night Life

5

Since the college is located at a corporate place, it turns into a graveyard when sun goes down (not literally). But again, in the evenings, there are places for crazy street foods like momo, thukpa, chowmein, roll, chicken, dosa. Crazy things to choose from. Lassi, fresh juice and fresh fruits to eat too!!! There was a nightclub called Backstage which the people loved to visit after having a fulfilling meal at KFC and a crazy Coffee by CCD

The curriculum provides a comprehensive retrospective of literature from the Old English period to Modern period, while also including English works by Indian authors to demonstrate the diversity and evolution of English literature over the years. The current curriculum I believe requires more seminars and lectures from guest faculties on contemporary research and topics.

The course curriculum and faculty members are good. I chose this because English is my favourite subject. Also it you study English there are lots of opportunities present here. Student ratio is 100-120 student per department. There are 26 courses available The faculty is very standard.Teaching Method is very good because attendence is strictly followed by our college. One of the reasons teachers are committed to us .They try their level best to teach us in short time. There are projectors also used in our classes.Overall it is satisfactory. Every term exam happens in 6 months. It is very difficult to pass those exams. As our college is under VIDYASAGAR UNIVERSITY,so questions are set by them.Thats why exams are very difficult to pass.

All the teachers are well equipped and have complete knowledge of the subjects they are teaching. The exams were difficult as compared to the SPPU endsem exams, but that is expected from a college of such repute.
