Course Curriculum Overview
Mechanical engineering dwells into lot of physics topics and being and engineering aspirant mechanical seemed the right choice for me. The institute is currently revamping their curriculum rigorously inorder to find the right balance for student, and I personally think they are doing a good job.
Internships Opportunities
The professors take in students in the summer, some registration forms are floated close to end of semester by different organizations in the college. Various projects in each department are offered in the same.
Placement Experience
The college has a placement cell which tried to being the best companies and offers to our students each year. We get internship opportunities in our 3rd year and main placement in 4th year(mainly at the end of 7th sem). Most of the big tech companies(microsoft, google, amazon), consulting companies(McKinsey, BCG) to a name a few comes to our college each year. Around 75% students were placed last year(some choosing higher studies instead). The highest package last year was 3.61 crores and the average was around 22 lakh
Fees and Financial Aid
Each semester the tuition fees total upto 119000. Students can get merit cum means scholarships available in the the college or apply to other external ones,most of the needed details are provided by the college itself.
Campus Life
The college hosts the biggest cultural festival in Asia(mood Indigo) which attracts crowd from all over India. The college also host the annual science and technology festival(techfest) which also attracts a huge number of students. The institute library is vast and has a wide array of book, journal collections etc. The classes boasts top notch technical equipments and matches the reputation of the college. The sports facilities include 2 indoor basketball courts, cricket ground, football ground, a olympic swimming pool to name a few
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities provided are pretty good. For Btech students, the first 2 years, 2 students occupy one room and for the last year we are provided with single room occupancy. The mess food is mostly good.
Admission
IIT bombay was my first priority. The college has some of the best professors in the country and is consistently ranked as number 1 indian college in qs world ranking. The students are admitted mainly based on their jee advanced ranks, also the design students from uceed.
Faculty
iit bombay has a faculty student ratio of 18.9 . Most of the professors are very approachable. The exams are all decided by the designated prof for the course as they have full freedom on evaluation and teaching process. There could be courses with no exams at all(although rare)
Night Life
The college has a vibrant night life and have open canteens till 4 am. The college has a well maintained gym accessible for the students and faculties. Students can go in and out of the campus or hostel at their convenience. The college also has restaurant(gulmohar) and some cafes(cafe cofee day, cafe 92) apart from the canteens.
