Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum of the college ensures important topics of circuit theory, power systems, microprocessors are covered. THe course has rising technogies that includes renewable energy sources, smart grids, IoT devices and electric vehicles. Overall it offers high relevant and industry related course. Although internships are available increasing mandatory collaborations with companies like Siemans, ABB etc can give students better hand on hand experience. The overall scores of the students depends on both intenal and semester examinations, with 60% marks for internals and among that 60%, 30% weightage for intenals and rest 30% for assignments, quizzes and class test. 40% marks are used for sem exams. Overall course is difficult to manage.

Internships Opportunities

3

The internships comes with stipend and various hand on hand experience. The prominent companies offering internships are 1. Nokia 2.Google 3.Intel 4. Amazon 5. IBM 6. Wipro 7.Accenture etc Amrita focuses on learing through various projects that integrate theoretical and practical knowledge which include 1. Automated insulin pump for diabetes care 2. Raman care Diagnostic tool 3. IoT based solar electrification

Placement Experience

3

The eligibity for campus placements starts from the third semester onwards but usually students gets placed starting from the 3rd year. Maintaig a cgpa above 7.5 offers campus placements for all students. The average package was 5 lakhs and the highest was 8 lakhs in EEE. My plan is neither do an MBA or do a job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of Amrita Vishwavidyapeedam Amritapuri depends on the slab you are admitted in. Eg for EEE in slab one you need to pay Rs1,00,000 which includes just the tution fees and for slab 2 and 3 the fee is 2,00,000 for non scholarship category the fee is Rs 3,00,000. The fees depends on the AEE which is an entrance exam conducted by Amrita or it depends on your jee main scores. Apart from the tution fee the hostel fee is 75,000 which includes the mess fess also.

Campus Life

3

There are wide variety of clubs in the campus which includes technical and non techical clubs. The library has a vast collection of books of over 90000 volumes and comprises both national and intenational journals. The sports and extra curricular activities are managed under a club known as ayudh and has won many national and intenational competitions.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facilities are above average to be honest with well equipped furniture and bed. The food is vegetarian a d provides egg 2 days every week. The hostel food sucks and because of the complaints faced by the management it is quite good. The hostel facility for girl is approximatelety 500m outside the campus.

Admission

I got approved from IISER and lower nits. But I choosed Amrita because of the placements it provided and I was not into taking a degree in science and its the reason why I didnt go for IISER. I wish I could perform better in my jee mains The eligibility exams for my college is AEE and jee main scores.

Faculty

4

The ratio of faculity student is excellent and is not more than 1:14 in Amrita Univeristy and also by the internal quality assurance cell. The university give importance to faculty student relationship. Class representative have been appointed from the class to give feedback on teaching and academic matters, thus opening channels for communication. Since I am just in S2 my facorite faculty till now is Asha Mam who teaches EEE and is also one among the biggest motivator in the entire college. The university follows a semester based systems for 2 semesters. THe assesment of students is taken continuously throughout the year with the help of assignments, quizzes mid test and end semester examinations.

Night Life

3

The college includes cafeteria, library and spots, but enjoying night life is not a cup of tea in this college. Mostly college life is hell for girls with a curfew time of 5.30 evening. The college campus is huge and the hostel tiimgs sucks, but campus life and hostel life can be enjoyed for boys.

The campus placements are decent. getting placed in a big company is more about having the technical and soft skills to pass the interviews. the placement training helps us develop soft skills but the technical skills must be developed ourselves.

There is a good placement cell in RIT Kottayam. From the 6th semester onwards students got placement training and career guidance classes and there are various clubs to improve your aptitude and chances to get the job through placement. The major recruiters of the campus are Oracle, Microsoft, Allianz, MRF, IDBI Bank, Infosys IBM, TCS, VVDN, WIPRO, Suntec EXPERION etc. There is about 75 % of students get placed every year. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.
