Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum of Visveswaraya Technological University(VTU) is very fair and well designed. It is renowned for its fairness in examination and meets modern day requirements to become a good software engineer. Since this university is of governments and providing curriculum from a long period of time, where many of the students have been successful is a factor that influenced me to choose this course. It exposes you to wide range of oppurtunities. You get to learn basics of everything and can choose your masters(if needed). The curriculum prepares us for the real-world applications in a great manner. All the evolving technologies will be included in our syllabus, with strong foundation of basics. The course can be improved in terms of more practical exams and interships, rather than theory. The exam evaluation should be little student oriented. The exams happen every 5 months, which goes for a month. Exams are quite difficult, papers are not consistent. Evaluation is very strict.

Internships Opportunities

3

Samsung Innovation Campus, Capgemini lab, Swizosoft provide internships to meritious students of 4th year. There will be an entry test to get into these. They give stipend based on perfomance of the student. Since I am in 3rd year, I am yet to do the projects.

Placement Experience

2

Students are eligible for campus placements from 7th semester. The companies appearing to hire the students are little less, but they employ top performing students. Few of the companies that visited our college are: TCS, TechMahindra, UpGrad, Juspay, Capgemini, IBM, JohnsonControls, Mphasis, Univision. Total no of offers made is 195. Highest package given is 30LPA by Kiaan Agrow Tech pvt ltd. Average placement package is 4LPA. Percentage of students getting placed is 40%. My plans after getting the degree is getting a job

Fees and Financial Aid

I pay 1,08,984rs every year as the college fee, since I am admitted through CET counselling(category 3AG). The fee is split as: 1.College fee-20,000rs 2.Tution fee-68,374rs 3.Lab fee-10,000rs 4.VTU fee-10,610rs Students admitted through management quota pay around 2,75,000 to 3,00,000rs SSP scholarship(govt) is the general scholarship that can be availed according to respective categories, which gives around 70% of the college fee. Hostel fee is also provided by the same. I have not come through any personal financial aid. Hence, The total fee I will be paying for the full course is 4,35,936rs

Campus Life

4

The overall experience of the college campus life is average. Vismay-The annual college fest, organized in June. Spardha-Annual sports meet, organised in May. Milan-The alumni meet, organised in August. General events like Republic Day, Independence Day, Kannada Rajyotsava. The books in library are easily accesible. Computer systems are provided for a better learning. Along with chalk board almost every classrooms are equipped with projectors and speakers for digital learning. Wide range of sports are supported. Tridha-Elevating cultural spirits is the student-run social group for different art and cultural activities. They play a very important role in auditing students for inter and intra college competetions. However there is a missing of an auditorium in our college, as a substitute to the auditorium, we have a seminar hall which is sufficintly large enough to accomodate 300 students at a time.

Admission

I was admitted through K-CET exam counselling, I chose this college over others because I had my cutoff ranking aligned with this college. I was not sure to be admitted to other colleges since my rank was not eligible to those. This college justifies the ranking for the peer you get. I did not get admissions from any other colleges because this college was in top of my preferences in college list. Hence I didnt get any rejection from any other college. Admission process in this college is very simple and hazzle free. After applying for colleges based on your preferences, you would be alloted to specific colleges based in your ranking. You can choose that respective college or re-apply for the next round(If you didnt like the allotted college). Once you are allotted with the college you can pay fee to the KEA(Karnataka Examination Authority) through DD(demand draft). They give admission order once after completion of fee payment. This admission order should be produced in the college and get admitted. The college will collect related documents like 10th,2nd PU marks card. This completes the admission process

Faculty

4

There are around 16 faculties in my department. The course structure is well defined. Evaluation is done in a strict manner. Faculty-to-student ratio is 1:15. Most of the faculties maintain good relationships with students and are very good to be approached, except a couple of faculties. Mrs.Asha K, Mr.Dinesh Babu KB and Mrs.Champa CH are my favorite faculties because they are extremely well in making to understand concepts to students. Mr.Hemanth, Mrs.Asha KH, Mrs.Champa CH, Mrs.Rashmi are the best faculties. Mrs.Tejaswini D,Mrs.Sinchana KP are the faculties I didnt like, since they are very poor in delivering the knowledge. There are 3 Internal exams in a sem and 1 Sem end exam. The exams are moderate, only 2% of the students fail to clear the exam. The course curriculum is fairly relevant and covers the modern day requirements. But has a gap from industrial training

Night Life

4

Gym is provided for the students, which is in the sports room. Cafeteria also provides refreshments and snacks. The lawn and park inside is the public area where students can spend good time. They will close at around 8pm. Since I am a day scholar I am unaware of the nightlife and hostel timings. However the campus timing is from 6am to 7pm. Famous hangout spots include bamboo tree, cricket ground, basketball court and block A. I am unaware of the locality to be safe to roam arounnd at night, it is safe in the daylight.

Placement Experience:

Placements at RNS Institute of Technology are good. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th or 7th semester. Many companies visit the college, including IT and core companies. Some of the common recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and a few core companies for EEE. The average package is around 3 to 5 LPA, and higher packages are also offered for top-performing students. The highest package can go much higher depending on the company. Around 70–80% of students get placed, mainly in IT roles. For EEE students, core placements are limited, but there are good opportunities in software roles. The college also provides training and support for placements. After completing my degree, I plan to get placed in a good company and build my career.

Companies like HP, Infosys, Wipro come for recruiting and make offers from 3L per annum to 30 L per annum. Around 70 percent of the students get placed through campus placement. I plan on working for a dream company after completing my degree.

Placement Experience:

I applied to colleges like BMSIT and Sir MVIT, and I had confirmed seats there, too. I chose RNSIT because it has a better reputation for placements in my branch and the campus environment felt more welcoming. I didn't get into RVCE because my KCET rank wasn't high enough for their top branches, as the competition was very tough that year. The admission process is simple. They mainly take students through KCET and COMEDK. You need at least 45% in your 12th boards (PCM). Most students prefer KCET because the fees are lower. Once the seat is allotted through counseling, you just visit the campus, submit your documents, and pay the fees. The whole process was quite smooth and well-organized."

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very unique, and very new, we are not taught irrelevant subjects and topics like every university does, Polaris school of technology (PST) is a new gen college which mainly focuses on tech, producing the best engineers not amongst india but amongst the world, it's aim is to produce engineers who are better than IITians and MITians, all these specifications influenced me to choose this course/curriculum When it comes to real-world applications, Polaris school of technology(PST) gives us real-life problems and scenario based projects through evaluations which help us in the future and helps us to build a proper approach for problems and train us to be the best. We have two main exams per sem which would be conducted every 3 months that is ½th of the sem, we have a total of 8 sems, so total 16 exams, our exams would be difficult for other college students, but not for us as we have the best mentors.
