What Students Say
Likes
- The facilities are good like computer labs, gym, library, music and instruments.
- The infrastructure is also quite good including campus amenities and learning facilities.
- Ground is also big and playful with many sports equipment's available to play.
Dislikes
- Some faculties are not good! teaching methods, mentorship and their expertise is poor.
- Placement services are also quite bad, low support provided for career advancement.
- The college should also focus on skills of their students for better placements and future.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is nearly 60% relevant and comprehensive. Specific subjects like Data Structures and Alogorithm, Fundamentals of AIML, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, etc are good in aspects of future technology. The curriculum is likely to prepare the students for many real-word applications or further academic pursuits very well and good. The boring and non-related subjects should be dismantled from the curriculum of this course which are not important for future and are irrelvant in terms of this field. The frequency and timing of the exams are okay! means there is no need to change them, and their difficulty level is also moderate for many students.
Internships Opportunities
There are many companies around the college area that offers internship and part-time works for students. (With stipend or without stipend) And students from IT and Computer related branches, college provides contact information of companies for students to achieve internship. College also refers some companies and work availble to students for their internship projects. Some studetns find internship by their own. Students also mention the internship cerificate in their CVs. Many students also build some projects while doing the internships and mention those projects in their resume. Certificates and Skills learned during the internship is very helpful for further job opportunites,
Placement Experience
Placements in my college is quite good, but not better than average college placements in Pune. From 6th semester onwards students become eligible for campus placements, in 5th semester students have to an mandatory internship. Many companies like Amazon, Infosys, Google, Wipro, TCS, Accenture, Cape Gemini, etc. have visited and made plenty of offers in the past years with students having quality. Highest package in my college is of 18.5 LPA in Amazon company and average package is around 3.5 LPA. Percentage/Pointer SGPA of many studetns getting placements is above 7.5 (70%). My plans is to prepare for on-campus placement drive and if I didn't got selected in on-campus then I will apply for off-campus in some selected companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
Zeal College of Engineering and Research, Pune - Fee structure and scholarships Academic year 2024-2025 currently I am in second year of B.E AIML course. Fee structure first year 2023-2024:- Tuition fees: INR 48,932 Development fees: INR 12,136 University other fees: INR 2685 Eligibility fees: INR ?650 Student insurance: INR 701 Career development program: INR 11,800 Total fees for the first year: 76,904 2nd year 2024-2025 Tuition fees: INR 43,899 Development fees: INR 12,136 University other fees: INR 2645 total fees for the second year: INR 58,747 I recived a 50% tuition fee waiver through the Maha DBT scholarship under EBC (Econmically Weaker Section) category, Rajashri Chattrapati Shahu Maharaj Shiksan Shulkh Shisyavrutti Scholarship. Therefore the actual tuition fees for the general category are likely twice the amount I paid. For other categories based on discussions with my batchmates the fee structure for other categories (SC,ST, NT, OBC, etc) generally involves a substantial reduction in tuition fees compared to the general category. Merit-Based scholarships: The college offers merit-based scholarships to students who achieve high academic performance in entrance exams (CET or JEE), called TFWS schollarship (Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme) in which all the tuition fees are waived off just the other remaining fees are to be paid by the student. Government Schemes or Other Schemes: Students can also avail government scholarships and financial aid backgrounds supports by themselves. Other expenses: This includes uniform fees (INR 3000/-), Staionary, Travelling cost, Hostel cost, other nominal fees, etc. The fees may probably increase as the college has become autonomous now.
Campus Life
The overall experience with campus life, social clubs and infrastructure provided is good. There are annual sports event called as Ranangan, each year it is held and between all branches and trophies are given to winners. Annual gathering 'Udaan' is also there which is held in february month every year where all cultural activities are performed by many students. Vast variety of educational and other books, journals are available in the library. All classrooms from Second year to Final are equipped with digital projector and a personal computer for teaching member in each class is there. Sports club, social activity clubs, Students association clubs, Students E-cell portal, Students' development groups are there which helps in development of students.
Admission
I applied many other colleges also with this college set at lower preference but my merit score didn't matched the cut off score required for higher colleges. (AISSMS, PVG, MMCOE, PICT, DY PATIL, etc.) My CET score was 81.85%, lower than the cut off score of many higher colleges. That's why I didn't make it there. I studied hard but some questions were too much tough! The admission process of my college is easy, only in 2-3 hours I completed the whole admission process. Eligibility cut-off for this course is a score above 75% in CET or above 70% in JEE. MHT-CET is the most preferred exam by most of the students. Some cerificates like Domicile, Nationality, Income certificate, Marksheets of 10th and 12th, etc. are required for this course. Score above 60% in HSC 12th Board is required to give CET entrance exam for OPEN category.
Faculty
Some faculties are good in teaching with high skills and teaching methods. while some faculties are novice and poor in teaching quality. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:75, means 1 faculty teaches to 75 students at a time in each classroom for theory lectures. And for practical the ratio is 1:30. Faculty to student relationship is also good for some faculties and bad for some faculties, good faculties are nicely approachble. I specially liked Dipak sir, Mahesh sir, and two-three more faculties are there. These faculties teaches very nicely and are expert in their respective subjects. I didn't like Maths teacher, OOP faculty and three-four more faculties because their teaching methods are of very low level and they are not so good in teaching! 3 exams are there in one semester, (INSEM, PRELIMS ENDSEM) Difficulty level depends on the study you do before the exams. Approximately 20-30% fail to clear the exams. course curriculum is 60% relavant to the course I chose and the skills required for this course in future, 40% course subjects are useless and time wasting with no need in future!
Night Life
Nightlife in and around the campus is good and safe. People hangout or meet together and chill at cafes, restaurants and hotels. There are many hotels and mess available in the college canteen itself and outside the college also there are many hotels and restaurants in line for students, plenty of options and variety of food and cafes are available all around the college. Library is open till 7 pm after that it opens at 8 am in the morning next day. Gym is also there for students who love body building or maintain physical fitness. Hostel has a time limit of around 11 pm closing and 7 am opening time. There are many places to visit or hangout near the college and around the city, like Swaninarayan Temple, Katraj zoo, etc.
