Government polytechnic college Sundernagar Detailed Review

The reason why I chose to do diploma from Government polytechnic college Sundernagar was because of the following reasons:- •The fee structure is cheap. •The college also provides various on campus and off campus placements. •If you have done +2 then you can take addmission direct in 2nd year by giving the leet exam. During this diploma of 3 years we have to perform two industrial trainings also one after 3rd sem which is of 21 days or 3weeks and second one is after 4th sem which is of 7weeks, so we can go to different industries or training centres to learn real world skills which makes us placement ready. The only thing you have to keep in mind while doing the diploma is that you have to be a little bit attentive in the class during the lectures so that at the last during the housetests there is not much pressure because the housetests have a huge role in our assessment marks and these are a little hectic also because we have to give two housetests in a day so if you have not studied anything before the house test so it will badly affect you assessment marks. So along with exploring your college life invest a little time in your studies also. Along with the theory classes the workshop classes are also given to the students so that the students can learn the basics.

To provide on campus placements various companies come to this college like Maruti Suzuki, Reliance, Tata Motors, Infosys etc . The average minimum package offered in the year 2024 was 2.5 lpa and the maximum package offered was 4.5 lpa. So overall if you want to get on campus placement you can follow these simple steps:- 1. Make sure you try to understand things not cram them. 2. Make ure you don't have any back or supply. 3. Be in good terms with your teachers and seniors as they help in guiding us. 4. Ask for tips from your seniors who got placement from the college and be in touch with them.

After completion of 4th semester ie during the 5th sem or in the 3rd year the students become eligible for attending placements. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Reliance, Tata Motors, Infosys etc vist the campus of Government polytechnic college Sundernagar to provide on campus placements. For the year 2024 our seniors got the highest package ie 4.5 lpa from maruti Suzuki and the average package is 2.5 lpa. Approx 60% of the students get placed after the diploma from Government polytechnic college Sundernagar.

Well here in this college you have to pay semester wise fees, the duration of the diploma is 3years so a total of 6 semesters are there. In the starting semester the fees will be a little more because of some security fees etc.. , but after that per semester fees is around •4500/- for boys ( without hostel), •with hostel the fees of boys is 7100/-(approx)(without mess bill). •For girl candidates 3000/- without hostel •with hostel for girls 5600/- (without food) •For PWD candidates everything is free , •if you are staying in hostel you have only to pay 3000/- approx for food every month. And if you are planning to take a room or pg outside so it will be around 3000-4000/- per month. There are also various scholarships that are provided to the students on yearly basis which means you can apply or renew your scholarships in 1st,3rd and 5th sem . There are many scholarship categories like for girls it's different for sc,st it's different and for obc it's different so the scholarship amount varies from 250- 6000 rs per year. To pwd students a special scholarship is provided in which 50,000/- rs are given to them per year. Also there is a special scholarship for the toppers like if you have topped in all polytechnics for a particular semester you will be rewarded 50,000/- at the end of your diploma according to your academic performance. So in total you can do the diploma course from Government polytechnic college Sundernagar in only 1.5 lacs approx. and here the on campus placement are also provided and if you want to study further you can take direct addmission in the 2nd year in your respective branch of engineering.

If you want to take part in any cultural activities in the college then for that a proper SCA (social and cultural activities) period is provided by the faculty and students also participate in various government cultural activities like poster making, debate competitions and speech competitions and often win cash prizes. Other than that the newly enrolled students enrolled in the 1st semester can also get enrolled in the ncc where more opportunities for cultural and social activities are there . Overall the infrastructure is good, For badminton and table tennis indoor courts are there. Annual sports meet of all polytechnics is also organised where students can take part in various sports.

If you are thinking of getting a hostel then it's very good and affordable, in the hostel room you have been provided a bed, a chair, a table and a almirah. If you are thinking of getting into this college I will definitely recommend you from my side to take hostel facilities because here you will make another big joint family whom you will remember for you while life. The meal provided in the hostel are also good and affordable and the hostel inside the campus of the college only so it's very near the classes. For hostel you have to apply seperately during your registration process. If you are willing to take pg or room so the whole locality around 2-3 km you can get a pg or room easily around 30 % of the diploma students live in the pg and rooms only.

You can get into this college by two ways :- First way is by giving PAT exam for which the eligibility is class 10th. Second is by giving LEET exam for which the eligibility is +2 or iti. There are seats reserved for the category students and the cutoff are pretty medium so with a little efforts you can easily get into the diploma course of your choice. The most students take addmission into the mechanical, automobile and computer engineering course. After the release of your results of the leet or pat exam you have fill a preference for your desired polytechnic college along with the course and the seat allotment rounds will begin then after completion of the seat allotment round you have to go for document verification to your respective college where you have been allotted a seat then there if you want to take hostel another seat councelling round wil be done for hostel allotment.

Overall all the faculty are student friendly and are willing to help there students in any way possible. There are 6 branches of engineering in this college in which you can opt. 1. Electrical engineering. 2. Mechanical engineering. 3. Civil engineering. 4. Computer engineering. 5. Architecture engineering. 6. Automobile engineering. If your main aim is to do a job after the diploma so you can definately opt for mechanical and automobile engineering because there the placement rates are high and each year companies takes students form these branch along with them. Talking about the exam structure there are 2 class test taken. 1st class test will be taken on the starting on the starting of 2nd month of the semester and other will be taken on next month. Syllabus of these class test is 40% of the syllabus. After that a house test or mid sem test will be taken which will be of 80% syllabus and this is hard as one house test is in the morning shift and the other is in the evening shift of the same day so it will be a little hectic in the 1st sem to deal with this. After this the final sem exams will take place. 1week before the finals your practical exams will also take place. Your assignment marks are based on your overall academic performance as well as your behaviour with your teachers.

There is a library of the college where you can go and study during the college hours by bringing your library card and various public libraries are also there where the students can study at night. The hostel timings vary in the winter and summer season. In winter season the hostel gates closes in between 6-7pm and in summer the hostel gates closes at 8pm. There are different hostels for both boys and girls. Mandi district in which the Government polytechnic Sundernagar is located is also known as "Choti Kashi". So there are a lot of temples that you can visit and in the mandi ground various fest are also organised on various occasions which includes night concerts also which you can enjoy.
