Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is fine, to be honest. For my first year, the syllabus is same as my class 11 and 12 syllabus. One thing that I am displeased with is that NEP has caused our course to be 4 years now instead of 3 years. I, for one, am someone who has to appear for other competitive exams and to me, it seems like a year wasted and another year of burden.

Internships Opportunities

4

I am a first year student so I don't have any internship opportunities yet. Students get internship opportunities second year onwards. Although, I have applied for internships on my own, including companies like EY, Goldman Sachs, etc.

Placement Experience

5

The placements of Banaras Hindu University for my course, B.Com. (Hons.) are as follows- Highest Package- 9 lakhs per annum Lowest Package- 1.5 lakhs per annum Average Package- 6.5 lakhs per annum Students from their 6th semester become eligible for placements. There are a lot of companies that visit our university, including Infoysis, TCS, etc. I want to go into Investment Banking after this, so I will pursue the CFA exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

My course is B.Com. (Hons.) and the fee for it is ?10,000 per annum. My course is of 4 years now, because of NEP, so the total fee is ?40,000. There is a waiver for Category Reservations, but I don't know how much. This fee seems affordable to me. There are also scholarships here, resulting in EWS students getting ?10,000 per annum, making their fee negligible.

Campus Life

5

The campus life here is amazing. There are students from all backgrounds here, making the environment healthy and competitive. The biggest fest here is called KashiYatra and it is organised by IIT(BHU) every year, and each student of BHU can join it. There are also many faculties here, so everyday there is an event going on in one or the other faculty. The central library at BHU is one of the biggest central libraries in India. There are a lot of options to opt for here. Whatever sport you are interested in, is here. There are many options to go for here. There are also many societies here. I am a part of two myself. One is called Cinephile and it is a film society, the other is called Manthan, and it is a debate society. Over all, students have many options to choose from, here, and they won't have lack of options therefore.

Admission

I applied to many colleges and got into almost all of them. I'll tell one by one my reasons for not taking admissions into those colleges- 1. NMIMS (Mumbai Campus)- I got enrolled into B.Sc. Economics but the fees wasn't feasible for me. 2. Christ University(Bangalore Campus)- Christ is a reputed university, but it seemed more of a school to me than a college. 3. Delhi University(South Campus)- I did not get into a college in the North Campus, so I did not go to DU. I chose Banaras Hindu University over all these colleges because- 1. The college life here is amazing. 2. There is not too much burden here so students can focus on other aspects of their life, too, leading to a holistic development. 3. The fee here was feasible for me. 4. Not to mention this, but Banaras Hindu University is a really reputed university all over India and outside India. I got here by taking C.U.E.T., which is an entrance exams for really good colleges in India.

Faculty

5

There is one professer per 100 students, which, in my opinion, is a fine ratio. There has not been any inconvenience caused to students regarding the availability of the professors. The faculties here are all police and approachable. I have not met any faculty that wasn't approachable and that I disliked. I don't know of the exams as I am a fresher and have not given semester exams till now.

Night Life

5

The night life here is good. There is greenry all around the campus, making it pleasant. However, I, as a girl would not recommend another girl to walk alone at night, as precaution is better than cure. But it is completely safe to walk in groups at night. There are many parks and grounds here, that are open 24/7, making it a great place to hang out.

The average package was 5LPA which was very good for the start as a fresher. Last year's students are eligible for campus placement. Many companies were joined campus placement fair at that time including Wipro, Sony, vodaphone, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course includes a balanced mix of numerical and theoretical subjects, making it easier to study compared to other management courses that often come with intense academic pressure. The curriculum moderately prepares students for real-world problems, though there is scope for improvement in terms of providing practical exposure. Adding internships, workshops, or industry visits to the B.Com curriculum could greatly enhance its relevance. The exams are generally of easy to moderate difficulty, ensuring a manageable workload for students.
