Course Curriculum Overview
Agriculture as a subject is very vast & every semester you have around 10-12 courses & its a bit hectic. Syllabus is too much sometimes. But the whole course curriculum that is followed is as per ICAR so university specifically doesn't play any part there , so can't blame them.
Internships Opportunities
For BSc Agriculture Hons. : the internships that are available are primarily offered by banks , private companies in fertilizers and pesticides companies But they are just a waste of time as they are not very rewarding.
Fees and Financial Aid
For BSc Agriculture ( Hons. ) Admission fees - 60K approx (might increase now) : including semester fees ( sem 1 ) Tution fees ( per semester ) - Around 11K Total fees per semester ( including other charges ) : 20K ( for day scholars ) ; 25K ( for hostellers ) Scholarships Available: -Post Matric Scholarship for SC/ST students -Half fee concession for EWS -Half / Full fee concession for students that excel in youth festival and InterVarsity tournaments -Piara Singh Parmar Student Aid Fund -Merit Based Scholarship upto 18000/- are also provided to students who excel in academics. -GS Khush Foundation Merit Scholarship
Campus Life
-Every year Inter College Youth festivals , State Youth Festivals are held in PAU -A lot of expo's , fairs , exhibitions also keep on happening -PAU's Flower Show and Chrysanthemum Show are a must watch -Kisaan Mela is held twice an year -Classrooms are fully equipped with good facilities , has smartboards and projectors in every classroom, attendants are there to solve any technical issue if happen during the class -Sports Club , Students Committee are there.
Admission
For BSc Agriculture Hons. , two tests are there to get admission: If you want to get into PAU after 10th AAT ( Agricultural Aptitude Test ) is there - every year held in june or july. : can be easily cleared with 2 months of study , the questions asked are from the syllabus you study in 9th 10th standard along with general agriculture questions from the PSEB books for Agriculture ( Class 6th to 10th ) Those who want to go for BSc Agri Hons. after 12th can appear for CET ( Common Entrance Test ) : It is pretty much easier as compared to NEET or JEE.
Faculty
Faculty is 400-500 but teaching staff is less , the reasearch scientists and assistant professors teach the courses. Exams : First Hourly - 10 Marks ( within 30 days of the beginning of semester ) Mid Term - 20-25 Marks Practical+Assignment - 30+5 Final exam - 70 marks ( weightage - 35 ) Exams are from the things taught in the semester only , can be easily passed with some hardwork.
Night Life
Girls can't stay outdoors at night as the hostel's have a timing of 7pm in winters and 8pm in summers. There are no cafeterias that are open 24×7. Cafeteria is open only till 8-9 pm. Reading rooms are available 24×7 But MS Randhawa Library closes by 8 pm.
