Course Curriculum Overview

4

As a nursing student at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) College of Nursing, I have had some remarkable education that has incorporated all the academic and practical aspects of the discipline and the field. My explanations beneath seek to offer reflection on the curriculum, the applicability of the different tenets, and the modifications that could be made for rethinking the approach. Curriculum Aspects That Influenced My Decision Therein Such intensive clinical attachment, combined with a programme that fosters critical thinking and innovation, makes me an eminent nurse through a solid clinical practice orientation and command of theory that KGMU College offers. What stood out for me in this course was the practice of evidence-informed nursing and modern approaches to nursing. Similarly, the shift from theory-focused courses to community-health nursing, mental-health nursing, and medical-surgical courses gave a broader coverage to the practice of healthcare delivery. Additionally, the combination of modules in research methodology and biostatistics contributed positively to the academic aspect and better prepared the students for pursuing higher degrees and engaging in constructive debate. The chance of getting practical experience in reputable hospitals affiliated with KGMU was also a great motivating factor, since such experience is a prerequisite for nursing. Real World Applications And Academic Preparation For Them. The goal of any educational institution offering these courses is to ensure that the students sharpen their soft skills significantly and such concepts are applied in real-time situations. Improvement should be much more focused on theoretical knowledge and then all the clinical skills that will help them as well as students to deal easily with it The frequency and timing of exams are well

Admission

My journey into choosing King George's Medical University (KGMU) College of Nursing, during my tenure as a nursing student, has been challenging but very rewarding. When I had to apply during my application season, I was sending applications to quite a few prominent colleges like Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Institute of Medical Sciences, and Delhi University (DU). Although I was lucky enough to get all three confirmed admissions, KGMU was the best choice for my career aspirations, considering its legacy, clinical exposure, and holistic approach to nursing education. **Why I Chose KGMU Over Others The place is great as JNU emphasizes interdisciplinary research, academic excellence, and then clinical training of high standards, like at RML; and for its prestigeous environment, excellent academic environment and very strong alumni, DU would do. Still, KGMU had provided me with that kind of special edge with their structured curriculum and nursing college of devoted professionals directly affiliated to one of India's best super-specialty hospitals. The wide clinical exposure provided at KGMU, which enables a student to be exposed to practice in various different healthcare settings including pediatrics, obstetrics, psychiatry, and intensive care units, providing real-world experience. Moreover, the faculty being experienced and also the mentorship will further strengthen the decision to join this institution for my nursing career. KGMU's interest in ethics, communication, and evidence-based practice in nursing helps me to have a professional practice, which can be achieved there only. Admission Process at KGMU The admission process at KGMU College of Nursing is competitive and merit-based . Nursing program, candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, securing at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved categories). For M.Sc. Nursing, a B.Sc. Nursing degree with 55% marks an

Placement Experience:

The campus doesnt provide placements. Though sgpgi conducts its own test for vacancy of nursing. If you had studied from here chances are there youd get selected here inly and start doing job henceforth earning. I mean which institute doesn't prefer its own child. The students become illegible to give exam at the end of 4th year though there has been instances when people have cleared exam but couldnt join as degree process is late. Therefore its necessary to understand you can only join the job when you've the degree in hand. Mistly students who study here 5%-10% get job here itself. Rest of people get in other government hospitals. But its safe to say they all are earnibg good and are in government job. My plan after the degree is to possible join somewhee as tutor and side by side hustling for MSc for better pay scale and job perspectives. The bright side of this course is either you can go in clinical field or you can join as tutor. The sakary of nurse here in sgpgi is 1 lakh per month.

The course is a medical course so yaa i wanted to learn about human so opted for it .It's alike MBBS but a bit easy than that .we have subject specialities like Medical surgical ,Obs gynae,Pediatrics ,Community etc like mbbs only but we need to learn them in duration of 3.5 yrs then we have internship of 6 months. Curriculum is maintained but need to be more realistic as some things are outdated. The subjects we learn are patient centred only as we have to be there for them ,provide care to them and treat them .everthing we read in classes we apply and co relate in our clinical.postings for better learning and experience
