National PG College: disciplined or restrictive

The curriculum of English is interesting It is mostly about the poems and prose It gives the students the deep knowledge of English literature and also improve their English speaking and vocabulary skills If you want to pursue English in masters then the curriculum is quite good If we talk about the curriculum of the geography It is quite extensive and useful in daily life also There are three papers one of which is a practical In the practical paper we are told about the different instruments and techniques of making maps and cartography Along with surveying Over all the curriculum is quite useful in further academic pursuits and real world applications

The internship opportunities are rare But it also might depend upon the course you select The one opportunity I got was from Amar ujala They conducted a test but never give out results or anything like that

So the fees is divided in two categories Regular and self finance The first 320 students who take admission are in the regular batch This is based on the admission test Rest of the students are in self finance The fees for regular students is 6000/year approx. While for self finance students it is 12000 per year The tuition fee is about 4800 And rest is caution fees, registration fees, admission fees, development fees, lab fees and the other compulsory charges. The fees increases by the year But not by very much In the second year I paid 6300 approx In the third year I have paid 7000 The students are provided with the scholarship and it is sufficient to pay the full fees

On the monthly basis many seminars happen in the college But fest are very rare sometimes movie stars also come to college for promoting their movies The library is very small and the books are not very helpful Most all time you don't even get the books you want Every classroom has a CCTV camera It is installed last year sports activities happens during the start of the academic year There are many clubs in English department like the literary club but it's all in the name Campus life is good and quite interactive between students

I applied for Lucknow University Banaras Hindu University Allahabad University And BBAU I qualified for all of them But because they are admission process was quite slow and National PG my current college was quite adamant about admissions I took admission in this college within a week The admission criteria is simple You have to take an entrance test If you get good marks you are in the regular batch otherwise you are in the self finance batch All the curriculum and the faculty are the same the fees is different You can get the form from the administrative block or online

The faculty to student ratio is 1:100 The faculty of English department is very good The teachers are quite lenient and supportive Where as the faculty of other departments Are not very cooperative and sometimes even disrespectful towards students There are two unit test of 10 marks in each semester and one end semester exam The unit test of responsible for 20 marks 10 marks are given for your assignments And the semester exams makeup for 70 marks The subjects are divided into two papers in first and second year And in three papers in 3rd year The exams are fairly easy But still some of the students fail In the first year near about 50 students failed

The locality is quite safe to walk around as it is at the centre of the city But there is no night life of the college The college closes at 5 p.m. But most of the students leave college by 2 There is saharaganj Mall and riverfront where students Hangout often They also visit McDonald's at Hazratganj and the hazelnut factory I don't know what the hostel timings are as I am not living in it
