Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because i was always inclined towards economics as a subject as well as real life application of it. The specific aspects of curriculum which influenced my decision of choosing this course were the integrated syllabus and practical knowledge being imparted in this. It helps me to analyse data and understand real world problem from a broader horizon which wouldn't have been possible otherwise. Even though there isnt any improvement needed since the faculty itself is extremely focused as to impart the best of their knowledge to us and is very well trained and supportive. The frequency of the exams is twice a year(2 set of semester exams and 2 sets of sessional exams within each year) timing of the exam is 2.5 hour for semester exam of each subject and 1 hour for sessional which are of 70 marks and 30 marks respectively. The difficulty level of the exams is moderate, if a student attends regular classes they would easily qualify the exams with a good grade and CGPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees i paid for this course was Rs. 10800. Along with practical fees, depending upon what your practical subject is. Since i belong to general category i didnt have any reservation. College fund paid by me was ?5600. Development fund paid by me was ?3800. Maintenence fund paid by me was ?1400. My batchmates paid the same fees irrespective of their categories. There were 2 scholarships available for the students, depending upon which state you belong to, for students belonging to Uttar pradesh, UP scholarship is available which will pay back 8000 from the fees that you've paid and there's another scholarship which is named national scholarship portal which is for bihar students. You must provide 10th and 12th marksheet to apply for this scholarship.
Campus Life
There are various cultural fests organized at the college as well as the University which AMPG is affiliated to (Banaras Hindu University) including Spandan, winter fest, spring fest, freshers, deekshant samaroh, as well as IIT BHU MUN which is an inter university Model United Nation. The Central library of BHU along with AMPG library is very well course integrated according to each subject along with providing a good range of books for preparation of various civil services exams or competitive exams. The classrooms are well equiped with smart class in each room and ACs for a few particular lecture rooms. The College participates in all inter university sports tournament and competitions and bags prizes and wins laurels as well be it badminton tournament or cricket. There are various student run charity drives and social welfare for underprivileged children as well as clubs for a holistic development of young mind of teenagers and students it helps us build confidence and contribute to a better world in the smallest of ways possible.
Admission
I didnt apply for any other college or university other than Banaras Hindu University. Arya Mahila PG College is an affiliate college of Banaras Hindu University itself and thus it was alloted to me, on cutoff basis. I chose Banaras Hindu University cause of its cultural values along with good prestige and brand name, along with good faculty and education being imparted here being above the other colleges or universities. The admission process of my college is extremely simple, you just have to apply for CUET UG which is an entrance exam for applying to various universities and colleges for an undergraduate course. Thereafter appear for the exams and get good enough marks which are above the cutoff for Banaras Hindu University. Then fill up the counselling form for Banaras Hindu University and then the seat will be alloted to you for the particular college you clear cutoff for, in my case it was AMPG then you will have to get your physical verification done at the college campus itself, to confirm your seat. And hey, you got an admission already.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is good which complements the doubt solving on one to one basis if any child is facing any issues. Faculty to student relationship is commendable, the faculty is very approachable, they are flexible according to the students need and capabilities. The faculty i personally like the most is social science since i myself am a student of social science faculty itself. There isnt any particular faculty which i didn't like yet. There are 2 set of semester exams in a particular year and 2 set of sessionals, with sessionals being of 30 marks each and are also known as internal exams and semester exams being of 70 marks each and are also known as external exams. The exams are moderately designed with a few easy questions, few moderate and a few difficult, a student who attends classes on regular basis will easily clear all the exams with a good CGPA. The course curriculum is very significant and relevant keeping into consideration present day needs and scenario, they focus on practical knowledge more rather than just mugging up the theoretical portion of it.
Night Life
The college has its own Gym for well being and fitness of students which the students can get enrolled in through their identity card, it also has cafeterias and canteens. Hostel timings are typically from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. being the in time. Campus timings are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a vast college campus of Banaras Hindu University the students can hangout and explore in their free time, it being the largest university campus of the entire asia. There is Vishwanath temple in the campus itself, along with gardens and fountains which make the college campus worth hanging out and adds to the cultural diversity. The locality is safe to roam around and hangout until its night, at night too its safe, just that it gets a little dark and desolate for its a vast campus.
