What Students Say
Likes
- The college has a good culture in terms of students being active and participating in events and clubs, also the seniors are also very nice.
- The coding culture of the college is very good as we have clubs like cybros and cipher which focus on competetive programming and cybersecurity and have very good coders there.
- The hostel accommodation provided to us is comfortable, at least the rooms.
Dislikes
- The common bathrooms of the college are not very clean.
- The campus is on the smaller side and there is not much to do.
- There is a lot of land which is useless because it's filled with jungle and trees which can be created into something useful.
Course Curriculum Overview
In our semester one, we had irrelevant courses such as classical physics and Basic electronics which I did not found really relevant to my course. But other than that we had a course for programming called PPS ( Programming Problem Solving ) Which I really liked and got to learn a lot of stuff. The exams were tough but I would not say that they had a very high frequency. Teaching can be improved by introducing more practical labs for bettering the understanding of the students.
Internships Opportunities
I have not yet received any internship offers since I am only in my second semester of the college but I have heard seniors getting internship offers from companies and then later getting placed in the same companies.
Placement Experience
Seeing the recession and all the placements of the college are pretty decent and many of my known seniors are already placed. In the years preceding 2022-2023 the placements were much better and more lucrative too. Details of the placements are shared by the placement cell and on the LinkedIn page.
Fees and Financial Aid
I initially paid 3,25,000 to the college for the first semester which I had to pay before even joining the college. It included all the different kinds of fees such as tuition fees and hostel fees and admission fees. For the second semester, I have paid 2,95,000 to the college which is also inclusive of all the kinds of fees. All of my batchmates have the same fees since except those who opted for an extra minor course which costs them 80,000 more yearly. Scholarship is provided if students attain a cgpa of 9.2+ in a semester which ranges from 25,000 to 35,000. The name of the scholarship will cum under the Merit cum need category.
Campus Life
The infrastructure of the college is not up to the mark considering the high fees, but the overall campus is pretty nice and lush green which makes it quite refreshing to live here. Clubs of the college have been the highlight of my college social life till now and they are very nice to be a part of.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms of my hostel are very nice and livable especially compared to government colleges but the common washrooms of the main hostel are not up to the mark. The hostels give old architecture vibe but feel nice to stay in. Hostels have open space to hang out and one badminton court and a table tennis table.
Admission
My parents already knew about this college beforehand and they deemed it to be a good and reputed college. Also one of my elder cousin had a friend who is a pass out of this college and is doing pretty good in life.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is something around 1 for 100 or 1 for 200. All of the faculty members are approachable and friendly. I personally really liked Prof. Amit Neogi, Prof. Prateek Rathod, and Prof. Poonam Gera. All of these teachers were very reciprocating to the doubts of the students and answered them properly. I did not like Prof. Shailza Goetra but there are not many prominent reasons for it, maybe I was not able to connect with her style of teaching. We have around 4 quizzes and 2 theory exams including mid term and end term for all of the courses except programming courses for which we have lab exams too. I would say that the programming courses are very nice and relevant but courses other than them are not that relevant.
Night Life
My favourite way to hang out is to take walks around the campus during the night and also the cafeteria area. We have 3 open outlets to buy food from and 2 closed restaurants or cafes which have a very nice ambiance. The only problem regarding the night life is the lockdown time of 10:45 which I don't find necessary.
