Course Curriculum Overview

4

I would rate my course a solid 8.2 in respective curriculum in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness . The electrical engineering branch is always in demand and famous among every enginnering student. The demand of this branch always grows . It is a core branch course and have a important role in placements in the college. The electrical engineering branch in I.G.I.T Sarang was elected as the best electrical engineering course in odisha recently. The course has good placement and most of the students get placement from big MNCs. It is a very demanding course and it also gives you rewards The curriculum of our courseis good as it deals with real life problems . The curriculum tries to help students get involved in many lab activities so they can learn and understand the mechanism of the concepts of our courses. The areas of improvement in our courses curriculum will be seminars from different big professor from IITs and other institutions. Workshops helping student solve their doubts and demonstrate real life problem solving. The frequency and timing of exam is exam per every month. The difficulty of exam is high but is also good for our foundation.

Internships Opportunities

3

The internships opportunities are not that good . We receive internship opportunities mostly from nearby mining and power companies like JINDAL, NTPC AND TATA POWER . The college didnot offer many internship opportunities. Also the internship opportunities we get from college are not that good . The internship rolea are not good considering our hard work and knowledge. We really don't get paid stipend, very less students get really low stipend like 2000 or 1000. We also do many private internships that are coordinated with different institutions. I have did two paid internship from two different platforms and this year I will do my internship from Indian railways

Placement Experience

3

Placements in our college are good but not great. Th overall performance of students getting placement from every branch course combined is more than seventy percent. But the percentage in branch to branch respective wise is different , as Computer science engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and Electrical Engineering have higher placement rates than any other courses. From Seventh semester students became eligible for sitting in placements. You can say from the start of Fourth year students sit in placements. Many companies visit and offer placements to our students but the big companies are TCS( Tata consultancy services) , Infosys, Adani Limited , Reliance Limited , Tata Power and Co.. The highest package offered to our branch course ( Electrical Engineering ) Is 13 LPA by Tata Power. The percentage of students getting placed by Electrical Engineering is pretty good and is 77%. Overall percentage of students from all branches is 72%. My plans after getting the degree is simple. I am preparing for placements and also for gate exam . I want to give myself a chance . I will try to get a big placement from a big company as I want . If that doesn't go according to my plan I will try to qualify gate exam and will do Masters in Technology in a. Higher Institute.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid tution fees of 32,800 for this academic calendar year of 24-25. I paid 35,820 in my first year. The break down of fees for my academic year 24-25 is below: Tution fees -12000 Development fee-7000 Lab maintenance -1500 Student activity - 1500 Site visit -600 Training and placement fee - 5000 Internet fee- 1000 SSG -100 Exam registration fees for both semesters -4100 Total academic fees = 32800 My hostel fees = 48000 for whole academic year of 24-25. Scholarships available for financial help are below: State scholarships like post matric scholarship, E- Medhaburti ,P.M kishan scheme,Kalia yojana scholarship Also you can apply for scholarship from Jindal, Tata , Indian Army,Indian railways if your any parent is working in either of the sector mentioned above. Also you can apply national scholarships from national scholarship portal. There are many scholarships under state and national portals. Like I mentioned some examples above . You can check the eligibility and can apply whatever scholarship you want. I would love to share the scholarship details but the eligibility criteria changes time to time and financial amount changes . Also all other branches of engineering like mechanical, civil ,chemical , metallurgy department of engineering have same course fee like me. Students of CSE ( Computer science engineering) and ECE ( Electronics and communication) department students have different academic fees than me. Their total fees is = 67,820 Hostel fees is same for everyone. Here are the amounts of some state scholarships we usually get. Post-Matric scholarship -20000 E- Medhaburti -20000 Kalia Yojana Scholarship -40000

Campus Life

4

My overall experience has been pretty good I would say . I will tell you about my campus life including social aspects, club involvement and other activities. There are many annual and technical festivals organised in an academic calendar year. The main and the biggest fest is HORIZON which is the annual cultural and technical festivals of our college and it is famous in many college. Many students from different colleges participate in this fest and enjoy it. It occurs in the month of March second week or third week every year. There are also many fests in accordance to the respective branches . Like Every department has its own fest also. Example C.S.E - Technovation Electrical - Sankarsh Electronics and Telecommunication - Umeed These fests also occur between final week of March and First week of April Every year. Apart from these you have many cultural and technical programs throughout the calendar year. Examples - Annual Function, Welcome fest , other fests according to occasion. The library is very big and is organitwell for studying and book lending purpose. it contains alot of books and also has books of different authors on sam topics . You will most probably find every book you need . It also has a big reading space for people to read silently without any disturbance. It is a very good library. Sports activities are one of the things I liked in this college. The students are very interested in sports and also very competitive. They are many sport competition like every department sports leagues. Annual Athletics Meet and many other competitions The sports facilities are also very good . The playgrounds are very good and well maintained. There are coaches to help you learn and You can participate in many sports competition in inter college tournaments. There also many student run social groups like Drisha The photography club , The Robotics club , Open debate club , Dancle Club , Musical Club etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility of our college is decent . There are six boys hostels and two girls hostels . The hostels are divided according to respective year of students . Like Example The name of hostels are Surya Bhawan - For Fourth year Bhaskar Bhawan- For third year Aryabhatta Bhawan - For Second year Akash Bhawan - For First year The hostels are good . Only Surya Bhawan offers single room , others offer three person rooms . In every room you have your bed, study table , chair your cloth hanger and basic electrical facilities like fans , lightbulbs , D.G electrical bulbs. Many students also stay in rented accommodation because of not enough hostel seats for everyone. I lived my first year in rented accommodation and it was very good. There are many rented accommodation facilities for both boys and girls near the campus . It is exactly close to campus . The rooms are very good and the facilities are also very good. The meal quality is also very good . It has different dishes . It has veg and nonveg options also. It offers four time food facilities. Like breakfast, lunch , evening snacks and dinner. The registration process of hostel is simple . You will get your hostel seats accordingly to your marks and you have simple got to college site and apply it their.

Admission

I choose this college I.G.I.T Sarang because of his good name and impression in odisha and also it's a long historic college. One of my relatives also recommended it to me as He also studied from this college. It is a government engineering college which makes its courses affordable for everyone and it also selects you on your entrance exam performance like J.E.E Mains and OJEE exam. I knew from my Jee mains marks that I was unable for nits and IITs .Then I applied in other govt . Engineering colleges like C.E.T and Burla Engineering college and also in some private universities like KIIT university, Silicon university and Iter engineering college. I didn't get rejection from any college but I was offered Metallurgy Engineering course and Civil Engineering course in other govt. College like C.E.T and Burla Engineering college that's why I rejected them. I was able to get admission in all private universities from my Jee mains marks but at that time of admission financial condition of my family were not very good as my mother suffering from cancer at that time . The fees of this colleges are pretty high so I decided to not take admission in them due to my financial problems. The admission process to our college is pretty simple. After OJEE counselling If you are selected in this college , you should check for the dates of admission and submitting documents. First you have to pay 10000 for confirmation of your seat and then you can get admission in the college in respective date . You should gather all your documents mentioned by them and visit the college on the mentioned date to get admission. The admission process is very simple and the teacher will help you and you don't have to worry about anything. JEE Mains is the exam accepted by our college for getting admission in b.tech courses and you can also apply from Special OJEE exam score . These two exams are preferred by the college and also the students.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio in my branch of engineering ( Electrical Engineering) is 1:5. The total faculties in Electrical Engineering department are @ approx.32 .The faculty are good and strict but in a good way .They are very strict about lab activities, dress code, assignments ,projects and Homework. They always take classes everyday perfectly. Their teaching Methods are good and they also help us in doubt solving. Some of the faculties are very good they will help you grow and help you in academic problem or any social problems you are facing. I am lucky that I have met two of these professor. Mr.Brijesh Sahoo is a professor of our electrical engineering branch and also the House scretary executive of our hostel. He has helped me in many ways in academic and also in life . I am very grateful for that. The faculty I didn't like is Prof.Umakanta Maharana. His teachings are old and not effective for us. His behaviour around lab activities is also not good .Many students fear him for his attitude and personality and don't ask doubts or solve their queries. He becames unapproachable. An Academic Calendar year is divided into two semesters as it is very college. In a semester we usually study five subjects and additional subject of your choice. The exam curriculum is divided into the following. In each semester everyone will participate in three exams . Two of three exams are class test exams consisting os 15 marks each At the end of the semester everyone will also participate in End sem exam which consists of 60 marks Mark structure of every subject Class Test-1 - 15 marks Class Test ll- 15 Marks End sem exam -60 Marks Attendance - 5 marks Assignment -5 marks Total marks - 100 marks For every theory subject contains 100 marks . Everyone will also participate in Lab exams by respective subjects. The total marks of every lab subject is also 100. It is divided as follows Lab Attendance -10 marks Lab performance -20 marks Lab Records - 30 marks Viva -30 m

Night Life

4

The night life in our college campus is good but not great Many students participate in sport activities after the completion of classes. The classes complete around 4 pm and all the students after completion of courses engage in different activities to relax Many students engage in sports activities and play respective sport of theirs till 8 pm Many students also engage in different social clubs like Dance club , Musical club , photography club. Many go to cafes , restaurant and other food shops to enjoy delicious foods and have acalm environment. The favourite spot is the central park of the college where everyone sits and enjoys . There is also two cafeterias near the parks for students. The locality is very safe to roam around nights . It is very safe and good environment for students of both genders for roaming in night. Many people also go to library for more studies and completing their academic homework. Many people especially boys also go to gym . In my experience I go gym

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
