IITR experience

So there is no more M.tech in bioprocess engineering from this year. There are 2 new courses instead of that. M.tech in structural and computational biology and M.tech in biomanufacturing. I am currently in structural amd computational biology and the course is new and adhers to the standards of both jndustry and research.

the internship opportunities are great here. opportunities from various fields are offered and handsome stipends are provided. many opportunities are provided ranging from industrial internships to research internships in india or abroad. ther are certain mou that allows students to pursue their internsips abroad and also allow them for a semester long exchange program

from the final semester the students become eligible for placments. Various tier 1 companies visit the institute and offer campus placements range from crores to a six digit salary figure. The profiles generally offered are SDE, data analyst, data scientist, management role, consultant and mnay others. though the details of the placement remain confidential.

Total fee for the M.tech is Rs. 2,10,000. Nn average per sem one needs to pay Rs. 54000 as fee which includes both tution and hostel mess fees. For M.tech, there is no other scholarship other than GATE scholarship. There are other privare scholarship which one can claim, but then the GATE scholarship will be revoked. This is a 2 yr course with a chance to convert to Phd once you have qualified the basuc qualifications.

the overall campus life is awesome. it just feels surreal to be here . the james thomson building the inspiration for many, inspires us too to maintain the legacy of the institute. also everyone here is so creative and passionate in what they pursue. also being with the bright minds also helps us to excel ourselves.

so there are 4 pg hostels and 1 of them is a co-ed hostel. we are provided with single room, double sharing room and triple sharing rooms. the basic hostel amenities are provided. the mess menu is varied and has good taste. sanitaion is good but the hostels are pretty old. so some facilities may not be good enough.

The course is new and seemed really attractive. Then it IIT. Also IIT roorkee specializes in this field. I have also applied to tifr bombay and got rejection from there. I had also applied to IITKGP, IITG, IITH, IITM.

The faculty to student ratio is pretty much good. The exams conducted in a very professional manner. The questions test your basic to advanced understanding for the subject. The grading is relative or absolute depending on the professors. Also there is no attendance policy

there is no hostel time limitation here. it is not only true for boys but also for girls. even though there is currently a hostel shortage now, still everyone is provided hostel facilities inside the campus. new hostels are being constructed and will be finished by 2025 july. the hangout places being chai tapris, ccd, playrooms, lbs ground and many more
