What Students Say
Likes
- The things I like most about the CU is there are lots of opportunities to grow. You want to enhance your skills technically. you can join clubs and societies or participate in hackathon or join workshops.
- Second thing is the infrastructure . Libraries are well build and have all necessary books and resources. The classrooms and labs are well equipped
- Placements are pretty good .Cu tries to bring multiple companies to hire students and multiple students are already placed my batch itself and around 300 companies already visited.
Dislikes
- Tha management can be improved. Like the time table schedules and hustle to get documents signed from here and there can be streamlined.
- Faculty is not that great like around 60 percent are the freshers who recently started they teaching journey.
- Overburdening the students to do extra curricular activities instead of keeping these things optional
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum is pretty solid in CU like in every semester you will some core subject which are relevant to the latest trends in tech specifically and there are specialized courses as well for AI/ML and IOT and more. If someone actually want to upskill then that person needs to put efforts more rather than just sticking to the college subjects. Some subject that are added in every semester are just irrelevant these can be replaced with good ones by conducting a poll or surveer among the students . Two MsT's per semester and one final exam, easy to medium level difficulty.
Internships Opportunities
As I mentioned earlier multiple companies are visiting CU for campus hiring so they are not directly hiring for Full time roles they are offering the intern position for 6 or 8 months and then you will be converted to FTE. So by cracking those you can get a chance to intern and later join the company as FTE. Stipend during intership various for 25k to 1 lakh per month. Mostly companies are hiring for interns and the. Converting them to FTE and rate of conversion is about 99%.
Placement Experience
From the 6th semester you are eligible for placement. About 300+ companies visited the college till now for our batch Some of them are Samsung ,Flipkart,OYO,Shaaddi.com,Sabre,Demandbase,TCS,Accenture,IBM and many more Around 700 students are placed from my batch till this day and more placement driving are going on. Most of the companies are hiring for the Software developer role. Average package is 7lpa Highest this year is 52 lpa Percentage of placed is around 85 to 90 those who opted to sit in drives I am looking to join as SDE in a MNC or startups.
Fees and Financial Aid
So for the batch 2021-2025 fees for a year Tution fee is 180000 per year or 90000 per semester. There is examination fees as well which was 2000 in 2021 and 2022 but now it has increased to 2500 per semester. So per semester fee becomes 90000+2500=92500. There is no category based scholarship as such for the students who are from states other than punjab. I don't have much knowledge about this category based scholarship. But one can avail the scholarship by giving the entrance cum scholarship test while applying for CU. If you score 90+ in that test you can get 100% scholarship on your tution fee. Then if you score 80+ you can get 50% scholarship and in the same there are other criteria which you can check while applying for the examination because it changes every time a little. Also based on your board exams and JEE mains score you can get upto 50% scholarship 90%+ in board or 90+ in JEE mains. I got got 50% scholarship based on my board exams. So till now I am paying 45000 tution fee + 2500 examination fee.
Campus Life
So multiple events happens throughout the year but the main fest is CU fest which typical occurres in March Libraries are well equipped you can get any book yi want easily . Infrastructure at CU is top notch Classrooms are equipped with projector and Ac's, Wifi and more At CU you can play in sports team as well there are teams like kabadi , tug of war hocky, cricket and more. Multiple clubs and societies to join IEEE CUSB, GDG and more These clubs and societies helps students to shape and upskill
Admission
Reason to choose CU. First one is placement record of the CU Is actually pretty good. Second one is scholarship availablity, at CU you can avail upto 100% scholarship . Third one is that CU is closer to my home town so I can travel on weekends to my home easily Other colleges. I applied to thapar college for the same course and got selected as well but the fee was much higher than what I am paying at CU.So due to that thing I did not go to the Thapar and joined CU. Admission process at CU Here you have to take one entrance cum scholarship exam You should have 65% and above in your board exams of 10+2 You can join based on the JEE score and board exams score as well if you have 90%+
Faculty
So to answer the first question about faculty and students relationship. Like enough number of faculty is available.Even if someone is absent than other faculty takes the class. Every class get assigned a mentor for them. Students can reach out to there mentor for anything which is relevant to the college. You can call or text your mentor and get things clarified . So I don't have any faculty that liked as such because in every semester faculty changes and till now it happened around 7 times. But there are some good faculty like Deepak rawat sir , Samiksha Ma'am , Reetu Ma'am There are some faculty who just come to time pass and shout on students and that it. So there are two theory msts per semester and one final examination MST1 and MST2 and Final Then there are two practical examination as well per semester . And all of these are easy to mediums level and relevant to the course curriculum. Most of the students pass these exams and some fails just because they don't even study the day before the examination ????
Interview Experience
No GD was there it was just online test which includes question based on your 10th and 12th and some english question and some general knowledge questions. Just revise the things you studied in 10th and 12th and that much is enough
Night Life
So night light at CU is also very good. In hostels you have access to multiple cafeteria's 24×7 ,gyms, TV rooms ,parks and more. There is food cour where you can hang with your friends and every popular brand you will get there like burger King, Domino and more. There is one Central location as well which is called as fountain where multiple events keep on happening and you can visit and enjoy them for free. Hostel timing are not strict as such you can roam around inside the hostel premises any time.
