Course Curriculum Overview

2

Course structure is pretty difficult in the first year and it is not at all relevant for my branch. But I think I've learned alot so far. Real world applications are close to null. I think they should improve the course curriculum and make it a bit easier for a fresher

Internships Opportunities

2

I don't have much idea about internships as im still a fresher. Projects are done by my seniors outside and inside their branches. Many students prefer Cs related profiles in both jobs and internships.

Placement Experience

5

1. From the 6th semester students become eleigible for campus placements. 2. Big companies like McKinsey, Google, microsoft, adobe, amazon, flipkart, meesho, bcg, bain, tcs, have visited our campus this year and the offers made were around 164 during a span of 59 days. 3. Highest package was 2cr for an international offer 4. 50% 5. I wanna get a job, a high paying one.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees in my college varies for students according to categories. I will be paying around 800000 worth tuition fee in total, The tuition fees for Sc/st students is 0. Students from ews and obc-ncl category coming under the given conditions of the institute can avail tuition fee waiver, the conditions are as follows: 1)Students having parental income between 1lakh to 5lakhs. SBI has a branch inside the IIT campus near the lecture hall for students who wish to avail loans. Students from my college can have Scholar Loan which is a bit better than Student loan as the interest rate is only 8.50%. We are made to pay the fees beforehand the semester starts. If somebody wishes to give supplementary exam after their end semester exams, the fees per credit is 500rs.

Campus Life

5

1. Annual fest is named Alcheringa which will happen in February 2025, Technical fest is named Techniche which was held in October. 2. Every range of book genre is available in the library 3. Ac rooms, projectors, huge classrooms with proper ventilation and multiple doors to exit and enter. 4. Every sport is available 5. Many groups

Hostel Facilities

5

We were provided a table, lamp, fan, cupboard. Meal quality is very poor and cheap, menu is diverse but it does not include food from the north that i prefer. Registration process is on campus and the hostel is affordable to me.

Admission

I did not choose this college, I had marks that fetched me this option during the college counselling process. But I'm really glad i got this college. I did get a rejection from the other colleges i applied to. Like iitb, iitr, iitk

Faculty

3

Faculty members are very helpful and cheerful. They provide us with concise notes for the exam and concise slides as well. I'm pretty satisfied with their methods of teaching and explaining. Few of them are surely rude and give grades based on their moods. I also faced a bit difficulty while trying to understand their tone as most of them are either bengali or assamese.

Interview Experience

5

I wrote Jee mains and Jee advanced to get into this college. I prepared for 3 years and it was worth it. I got the college of my dream. I prepared from Narayana Coaching. The test comprised of Physics, Maths and Chemistry subject.

Night Life

5

The campus life is the best at night time. I really love cycling around with my friends and appreciating nature and creating memories that last. Canteens of various girls and boys hostels are open up till 2am. Famous hangout place inside my campus is Serpentine lake. Many couples are found hanging out during the night. Just outside the campus is Khokha gate where tasty food can be found

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

I choosed because my CEE marks which was 92 at that time was not enough to get admission in govt engineering colleges and the OBC cut off was 120+. So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
