A comprehensive review of BIT Mesra

I didn't choose the course , the course choose me according to my rank . I am still in 1st year , so the courses are not branch specific and can't comment on their relevance with real world applications The quizzes and exams are very frequent and schedule is very hectic , so the semester passes like flash . The exams are easy to moderate .

Companies start visiting from 7th semester . Almost all popular companies visit BIT Mesra , most popular tech companies Popular finance companies A lot of Core companies also come to our college Name of the companies : Electro steel Goldman Sachs Google Havells IBM Intel Infosys Exide Jio JSW Microsoft Philips Oracle Reliance power Sony Tata , Tata bluescope steel , TCS , Tech Mahindra Vodafone Wipro Adani Yahoo Britannia BYJU'S Cognizant Deloitte Capgemini Digit There are over 120+ companies that recruit students from campus All these company names are available on BIT Mesra official site All branches have decent placement With minimum being around 40-50% And maximum ( mechanical ) being 80% My plans are appearing for GATE exam in 3rd year for getting into PSU's ( not considering doing MTECH ) And try to get a decent campus placement in core , I still have not developed a lot of interest in coding and tech . So trying to focus more on core placements

The fee structure is divided as : - tuition fees - development fees - hostel fees ( mess not included ) - institute exam fees One time ( admission , caution money , IT & infra) For BTECH .students admitted in 2024 : 1st sem : ?2,71,000 (including one time 90K)+ 35000 (mess fees) 2nd sem : ?1,81,500 3rd sem : ?1,99,000 4th sem : ?1,99,000 5th sem : ?2,18,500 6th sem : ?2,18,500 7th sem : ?2,40,000 8th sem : ?2,40,000 all these are without including mess fees ( 30,000) For 1st sem its 30,000 + 5,000(caution money) There are scholarship available for specific students and it is available on brochure of BIT

Names of fests : BITOTSAV PANTHEAN These are the popular fests however a lot of small fests are organized almost every month . The library has a wide range of books on all subjects and multiple writers . Every student gets a library card which they can use to issue books The classrooms are decent with very comfortable theatre like seats and projector for digital presentations . The lecture hall has normal benches and chairs . A lot of sports events happen , students have mutliplte opportunites to exceed in a sport . There is yet not a synthetic professional sprint track . And there are no swimming pools . There are lots of clubs and societies all run by students only . There are wide range of clubs focusing on personal development , and branch wise specific clubs too.

The rooms are provided with 2 beds and only one study table as the room is of single accomodation but double sharing so there is not enough space for 2 study tables. Students are provided with one WIFI LAN outlet in every hostel room. Mess food is just okay and edible According to the routine , few specific meals are good and few are bad , could be vice versa for different people . According to the price , the food is decent . Registration for hostel is along with semester course registration, however mess is registered separately

I got this college through CSAB councelling so I didn't have plenty of options to select from . I didn't choose the college , I just gave the preference order in CSAB and got this college. I didn't applied to many other colleges , I did apply for IISERS , and IIST . I was not selected in IIST due to my rank and I didn't continue counselling for IISERS as I got this college ( BIT MESRA ) before . The admission process was quite simple through JOSSA & CSAB The students selected through JOSSA & CSAB had to report to college on given day with all necessary documents mentioned on the college website . After verification of documents , an online portal was given with an ID and after fees payment , u become a student of BIT Mesra BIT Mesra takes admission through JEE MAINS. The cutoff fluctuates in CSAB rounds but is mostly constant in JOSSA counselling. There is big gap between CSE branch cutoff and Food tech cutoff ( last branch ) CSE ranges within 30K , while foodtech goes until 130K .

There are decent amount of faculties , there is only one faculty for one theroy course and entire branch attends the class in classroom or lecture hall . However labs are divided among sections to accomodate students Faculties are approachable , few faculties are very egoistic and behave like child man . There are 10 courses in 1st semester for non-circuital BTECH branches . 5 theory , 1 elective ( PT GAMES/ENTREPRENEURSHIP/CREATIVE ARTS/NCC/NSS) , and rest lab courses Total theory marks for 1 semester is 100 which is divided as : Quiz 1 - 10 marks Mid sem - 25 marks Quiz 2 - 10 marks Assignment - 5 marks End sem - 50 marks Students can easily get marks in quizzes assignemnts , even in mid sem , end sem is relatively tougher but scorable Very few students fail , almost no students fail in labs unless they develop some personal grudges with faculties or hurt their ego . The course is designed according to NEP and follows it strictly . All branches have same courses in 1st year. In 1st semester , The courses are different for circuital and non circuital branches and they get swapped in 2nd sem . 1st sem Non circuital theory courses : Physics Basics of electrical engineering Biology Programming Maths-1 Circuital theory courses : Chemistry Basics of electronics engineering Environment sciences Basics of mechanical engineering Maths -1 All these courses get swapped in 2nd semester Lab courses for non-circuital Programming lab Electrical lab Physics lab Lab courses for circuital Chemistry lab Electronics lab Workshop Engineering graphics All the courses are standard and can be easily learned from youtube , still faculties provide relevant stuff for exams .

The gym opens for 2 shifts : Early morning And then again in evening The night closing time is 9:00 pm for gym For gymnasium the closing time is 8:30 pm Library closing time is different during off/on exams Girls hostel have strict timing , all entries are closed after 9:00pm sharp and no entries until morning While boys hostel do have a formal timing but is very lenient , it is normal to find boys roaming in campus in midnight , late night even at 2:00-3:00 am Famous hangout places inside are : Apni rasoi ( restaurant ) IC ( institute canteen ) PMC H4 food truck Lakshmi canteen Outer canteen ( TECHNO )
