Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is really good in terms of relevance to the statistical applications. Particularly, an emphasis on learning statistical software is given which is very useful as it prepares us for real challenges. However, The course may improve in terms of the addition of more application-based topics and newer ways of using statistical software. The exams are conducted at the end of every semester, typically in December and in May/June. Exam comes as moderately difficult as it is descriptive and covers all the aspects of syllabus rather than focussing on a specific concept.
Internships Opportunities
There are very less internship opportunities available in this University. but the facilities and opportunities are increasing gradually. Our department has an MOU with Ayush Ministry which enables us to get internships for the research and postgraduate students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly I pay about 8000 rupees or so in total. The university charges a combined fee of 4500 for tuition fees, caution fees, lab fees, etc. Additionally, about 4400 is to be paid for exam fees every year. hence it is a very reasonably priced course and helpful for people with financial constraints. There is no distinction in the fees for different categories and the fees are the same for all. Also, there is no financial aid or scholarships available for this course(M.Stat). overall it can be said that this course is very minimally priced and conforms to the needs to students who are not very financially sound. For the complete course, the fees would be approximately 16000 as it is 8000 per year. compared with other technical courses like MCA and M.Tech, the fees are low. the fees increase every year but it is not increasing in any significant way to mention. It almost remains stable.
Campus Life
The overall experience in college is pretty good. The University hosts an annual fest called Unifest which is very colorful and full of different activities. it happens in September. The library is not that great in terms of the availability of books although the infrastructure is good. Most classrooms have whiteboards or blackboards and are not tech-enabled as of yet. various cultural activities happen throughout the year but there are not student-run social groups.
Admission
I chose this University because it is best compared to other institutes in Agra. I applied to Agra College and St. John's College as well but the infrastructure and the faculties are much better in this university. I got confirmed admission from all the colleges but I did not attend any other. The admission process for a university is easy. first, we have to check eligibility. for the M.Stat course, all we need is graduation with mathematics or statistics as one of the subjects and more than 45% marks. after that do online registration and then wait for the message. the message lists the further details and the documents needed for admission. we have to report to the given department on the given date and the rest follows.
Faculty
The Faculties are smaller in number but very helpful and a diverse experience. in particular, I like Prof Vineeta Singh( HoD Department of Statistics) for her encouraging nature and helping with all the problems that I face in academic life. Dr. Ranjana Gupta is also very helpful and a really good teacher. There are exams at the end of every semester. besides that , there are assignments and projects that are given frequently. The course Curriculum is quite relevant to the domain of data Analysis and Data Science.
Interview Experience
There was no interview for this particular course(M.Stat), but some of the other courses require group discussion, interviews, or/and a written test. like for the MSW course, a written exam happens. The criteria for courses differ accordingly
Night Life
There is no nightlife at this University are most students are day scholars . Hostel and campus facilities are available but only a few students use it. for hangout, there are places like Paliwal park which are good. overall the premises and their area is quite safe to roam around at night
