Introduction

Rajkiya Engineering College Banda (REC Banda) is a government engineering college in Attara, Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 2010 and offers various undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses. It is ranked 287 by Collegedunia in 2024. REC Banda is affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) and approved by AICTE.

REC Banda offers B.Tech. courses in Electrical engineering, IT, and mechanical engineering. The first-year fee is INR 62,500 for all three courses. Admission to various B.Tech courses is done based on the JEE Mains score, followed by the UPTAC counselling. In 2024, the cutoff ranks ranged from 116,000-254,000 depending on the specialisation in the General category.

To gain admission into B.Tech courses at Rajkiya Engineering College, Banda (REC Banda), candidates first need to have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry, securing at least 45% marks (40% for reserved categories). Next, candidates must qualify for JEE Main 2025, as REC Banda admissions are based on JEE Main scores.

After results are announced, typically in April, candidates register for UPTAC counseling conducted by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) starting in June. During counseling, candidates pay a registration fee, fill in choices, and select REC Banda. Seats are allotted based on JEE Main ranks, category, and availability (60 seats approximately per branch: Electrical, Mechanical, Information Technology).

REC Banda Campus And Facilities

Rajkiya Engineering College, Banda, spans a 15-acre fully residential campus. It features modern academic blocks, well-equipped workshops, and smart classrooms with audio-visual aids.

The campus includes separate hostels for boys and girls, a library with digital access, and good IT infrastructure offering free internet. Extensive sports facilities, including volleyball, basketball, and cricket grounds, complement recreational spaces like a gym and auditorium. A canteen and grocery store cater to daily needs.

Since the campus is located in a remote area with fields all around, it’s free from urban noise and pollution, which many students consider an advantage.

However, a review posted on Collegedunia shared that to do any kind of shopping, you need to go 5 KM to Atarra. They also shared that the campus was relatively small so students went out for walks in the evening. It is known to be unsafe outside at night, and boys have a curfew of 9:30 PM, while for girls it is 8 PM. The review also says that the construction of the rooms is not good.
