Review of BIT Mesra

Course curriculum here, are very organised and help students to enhance their skill which will further help them in their carreer. Various lab experiments are performed which help students to regain their theory lectures.

There are many internship opportunities offered in our institute. Companies like Google, Microsoft, TCS, IBM, TATA Steel, JIndal Steel, Accenture etc. visit our college during placements. On the basis of projects, skills, cgpa, students are offered with good internships and placements.

This college has a decent placement. CSE and IT branches are offered an avg. package of around 20 lpa, ECE of 15 lpa, EEE of around 13 to 14 lpa, Mechanical of around 10 lpa, Chemical of 8 to 9 lpa. Highest package of last year was 52 lpa, providing overall avg. package of around 12 lpa. Overall, the percentage placement is around 84.5%.

For first year the total tution fees is 288000rs, alongwith the hostel fees of 40000rs, with mess fees of 65000rs. In first sem, 5000rs is asked for caution money in mess fees(6000+5000). this caution money is asked only once. First year includes exam fees of 15000rs, one time admission fee of 20000rs, 10000rs for caution money, 60000rs for IT and Digital Infrastructure Charges and 10000rs for Development fee. These are asked only once. From second year onwards, tution fees will be 316000rs, with 22000rs of development fee, 16000rs of exam fees, and 44000 rs for hostel fees. Third year includes 348000rs of tution fees, 17000rs for exam fees, 24000rs for development fees and 48000rs for hostel fees. Fourth year includes 383000rs of tution fees, 27000rs for development fees, 18000rs for exam fees and 52000rs for hostel fees. In total the the cost for 4 year btech program is 2108000rs.

There are many cultural and sports fests held in this college. In the month of March, the most important fest of this college, BITOTSAV is held in the campus in which different Bollywood stars and singers perform concerts and shows. And in frequent intervals, many other fests like Pantheon(Tech fest), Deepotsav etc. keep on going. Chetan Devraj Cup, is the Inter Institute Cricket Tournament held in winters, hosted by our college is a very important tournament in which many other institutes including IITs and NITs also participate.

In first year, our hostels are near the main building. One hostel consists of around 140 rooms and each rooms has 2 students in it. Hostels have extremely good cleaning and sanitation. Our mess is on ground floor which serves us a very good quality of food. our hostel has a very long and big campus consisting of one badminton and one volleyball court.

I chose this this college over other collegs because it has a different fame over the decades. It has decent placement stats, good alumni network, also it is a GFTI. Students get admission in this college using JOSAA and CSAB using JEE Mains scorecard. Apart from this , the college performs a spot round in which students are admitted in college on the basis of JEE Scorecard. When seats remain vacant, vacancies for spot round are out. The only difference is that students who got minimum of 65% in 12th boards can also apply in this process.

The faculty members are quite good and supportive. One faculty contains around 4 proffecors. The faculties are: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Electrical, Electronics, Biology, Laboratories etc. I personally don't like physics department because they are a bit strict and deduct marks in internals and assignments. Each semester consists of 2 exams: midsems and endsems. midsems are of 25 marks and endsems are of 50 marks. In midsems, there are 5 questions each question carries 5 marks and in endsems, there are 10 questions and here also each question consists of 5 marks, along with strict checking which makes difficult for some students to pass.

For my admission, I just had to go through JEEMains Examination, that's all. I gave JEE Mains examinationand scored the required marks to take admission in this institute. Other than that, no interview was taken.

We also enjoy our night life.We have night canteens in different hostels, we go around the campus for cycling which is absolutely safe during night time due to good security. Library closes off by 8:30 pm, sports complex also closes off by 8:30 pm. For boys, there's no night timings but for girls, their in time is by 9:00 pm. There are some famous hangout places which we roam around at night like Chhotu Ka Dhaba, Pahan, H3 Night Canteen, H10 Night Canteen etc.
