What Students Say
Likes
- Affordability is the best thing about doing a btech in UEC
- Curriculum is based on RGPV syllabus so pretty up to date and exams are done efficiently and strictly
- Located in Ujjain so best for the people from nearby towns and districts looking for just a college with a govt tag and basic facilities with very low fees.
Dislikes
- Old infrastructure - very old established college so infra is poor, no proper benches, no ac in classes, untrimmed grass yards everywhere and no modern facilities
- 60-70% people are from nearby villages and towns so crowd is very mixed and you might find difficult to get along with those kinda people
- Not a lot of events and fests, do not expect anything from this college in terms of fun and exposure
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is very out dated and not real world and industry ready. Its based on the same old curriculum which plays no part in getting a placement today. They do pay attention to gaining a few extra important skills though which is good but i think more attention should be paid towards character and skill development of the students in all fields. Frequency of examinations are recent so if you want to focus on developing skills other than college it gets really difficult to do so.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are local and mostly unpaid through the college, for paid internships you need to go off campus.Lots of information and inquiries are provided though about various internships but all of them are off campus and requires your personal skills completely, nothing that they teach in college. Placement stats are decent, most students are mass placed picked up by tcs or in core fields with average salaries.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly tuition fees for all branches is 25k for all categories ,along with 1-2k of registration and caution fees but that's just for the first payment. other than that there are 5% tfw(tuition fee waiver) seats that cost zero tuition fees for the course of 4 years you only have to pay exam and caution fees. you can apply for tfw seats at the time of counseling. Then for OBC & SC/ST you have the Medhavi scholarship for which you can apply easily and get all the fees back guaranteed.
Campus Life
Campus life in here is very mixed, it's either some fun or nothing at all very boring. Not a lot of fests or events take place annually as far as ik there is one college fest takes place every year and other than that there are departmental events organised by specific branches like vidhyut by electrical branch and techno by cse. Library is good with access to a large variety of books you get a library card but there is some category issue with the issuing of library books too, some categories get to issue more no. of books at a time than others which might be a govt policy i don't have much idea about that. Sports in the college are okay, there's a sports fest called sports meet and then for mp nodals the college has teams for every sport. A lot of cultural and tech clubs are there in the college and they really engage and ask you to participate which is a great thing adds to the extra skills of the students, some clubs are cultural club, entrepreneurship club, etc.
Admission
Admission process to Uec is done through jee score through mpdte counselling. Once you are allotted a seat here you need to physically visit the college in 3 days of time and confirm your admission. It's a very easy and quick process. Cutoff scores through jee depends branch to branch. For Cse, Ece you need 80+ percentile and for the lower branches like chem, civil you can get them at even 20-60 percentile. The other college i got into was MITS GWALIOR i was getting ece there but based on the city and moving out process didn't work out as I'm a ujjain resident so uec was local for me. If i would've got into even a pretty decent private college like vit, manipal, symbiosis I'd have chosen that over getting an admission here definitely
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is decent, multiple faculties can teach you a single subject and same prof can teach in multiple branches. They are very approachable looks out for you incase of any doubts or difficulties. Electrical facilities have a bad reputation about them as ive heard. Exam system is pretty rigorous they take 3-4 midsems along with sessionals in between + assignments. Attendance plays a big role in getting the internal marks other than that exams are easy to pass even if you give a slight attention to studies you're pretty good to go.
Night Life
There is no night life in the college. the hostel is outside the main college campus and the campus is closed other than the college timings. The campus is also very small and there are absolutely no hangout spots other than the entry of the college there's a pond area that's it. There is no gym, no cafeteria, canteen but its empty all the time.
