Course Curriculum Overview
I think i decided upon wanting to do this course because of the additional advantages of it not being based entirely on Journalism and journalistic skills which i found useful for myself. We explore a lot of options with papers and eventually experience everything which makes your choices for the future easier.
Fees and Financial Aid
Paid 15k extra in first year for being a non-Karnataka Student. After that the average ranges from 1 lakh 13k to 1 lakh 16k per year. I have not heard of anyone being on a scholarship as of yet. The lab fees is around 3k per year but we have two labs which are accessible to us.
Campus Life
CommE live is an annual event held by our Communications department in January or February for which all Communications students and faculty tirelessly work and participate in. Cul-ah held by MCC is also held in January- February which is a fun event to attend every year! It is called the queen of fests for a reason!
Admission
I applied to multiple colleges. Including, St. Joesphs, Bangalore, Christ University Bangalore and New Delhi. The reason I ended up choosing MCC was because of the entrance test which I took, which was tailor made for the humanities instead of a general admission test like the others. I also liked the course structure which was very different from all the curriculums I had seen in other universities. MCC had various papers which I was interested in which were not present in other courses. Such as advertising, marketing and Media and Law.
Faculty
The marking system is kind of up in the air since it is a creative course. We dont really know what we are being marked upon and we cannot even ask for justification. The course curriculum is relevant and also very structured. The faculty is amazing!! The student to teacher ratio is perfect and the faculty is always there for us when needed!
Night Life
Vasanth Nagar, is our go to for everything. You will find multiple PGs here with varied rent rates. The night life is kind of dull in Vasanth Nagar but because MCC is in the middle of the city, Indiranagar and Koramangala are accessible all the time. The locality is still safe because MCC is still pre-dominantly a womens only college, i dont really know about what happens in the next 2 years but for now the localities are safe and fun to roam around in. Love eating gupchups in Vasanth Nagar.
