Likes
- In my department as there are less number of students, each student gets personal attention from the faculty which is much needed in a language course.
- Campus is really beautiful with guards everywhere for safety. Outsiders are not allowed to enter without showing their IDs.
- Some small scale events and programs are held time to time in which students can participate or even go as an audiance .
Dislikes
- Repetition of same days. We have a certain mindset towards Universities that it will be fun but in this university you have to study and gain a good cgpa.
- Due to recent addition of NEP policy many things are disorganised and mismanaged.
Course Curriculum Overview
My experience of learning japanese has been really good. As I started from the real scratch I gained a lot of knowledge. They start from the bottom and prepare you well for the exams and for the placements as well. All the teachers provide help when needed. i particularly liked the how each language department embraced the culture of their language. In japanese department we call sensei to our teachers and senpai to our seniors, we also greet them and respect them.
Placement Experience
I won't say that there is 100 percent placement. It mainly depends upon the student. Many companies come for placements and students do get placed. Last year there was amazon who gave a package of 6lpa and highest 13.9lpa was given by Accenture. But all the students did prepare accordingly and their capabilities were a major role.
Fees and Financial Aid
I pay 17500 per semester that comes to 35000 per year which is very affordable compared to other private or certain government colleges and universities. The fees for the first semester has additional fees like security and other miscellaneous charges as well. We were given scholarship from uttarakhand government during my second year according to our cgpa of the previous semester. First 5 positions were given this scholarship with the first position recieving 36000, 2nd 24000 and further 18000 for the restbof them individually. Other departments fees are relatively similar as well. Making this university affordable for middle class family students.
Campus Life
There are several clubs in campus which you can join by giving auditions. These clubs are a great opportunity for talented students. Almost every month there is an event in which you can participate and showcase your talent. Many events are conducted inter department but every student can enjoy them.
Admission
I applied into all the government colleges and universities for language course but as CUET became very competitive and difficult for me but I was able to crack doon University's entrance exam. Dehradun being my birth City also was a very big advantage for me as I could still live in my home and attend college.
Faculty
In the language department the faculty is very friendly natured and gives their overall attention to students as it is much needed. In other departments the faculties are really nice as well. Each semester as two exams:- midsem and endsem mid sem is of 30 marks and end sem is of 50 marks remaining 20 marks are of class performance or assignment depending upon the teacher.
Night Life
There are many cafes around my but I won't say there is a night life as in dehradun usually all places are shut after 10. There are libraries near as well. Walking distance can be a little bit more but mostly everything is available nearby.
