Course Curriculum Overview

3

The core subjects of civil engineering like Geotechnical engineering,Steel engineering, Highway engineering, Reinforcement Concrete structure, influenced my decision to choose this course ,these are very practical subjects and to me personally it thrills to get knowledge or science behind mega structures, even in the lab doing hydraulics experiments, concrete experiments, soil experiments it was very fun learning and the practical aspects of civil engineering makes it most interesting branch of Engineering. In the curriculum important basic subjects of civil engineering are been included, for the research purposes you can always opt for masters .But the only complain is that , although after having such interesting curriculum, college fails to produce engineers for real world applications. They have found just doing formalities,They didn't thought us engineering drawing for application purposes ,just thought easy drawings for the formality, Even in labs they used to provide us tools and equipments and told to apply theoretical knowledge, literally professor didn't even entered the lab even once ,it was always lab assistant who use to guide ,and some experiments of hydraulics and survey was out of his knowledge. I don't find faculty members are passionate about their job ,from my experience I always found them just doing formalities of everything. They have made their image as such everyone was hesitant to meet them .If possible I would suggest to change entire faculty staff, and for teaching level they should teach at professional level means which make students prepared for real world problems not just for the sake of semester exams ,it no doubt that curriculum is outdated and asking for additional new subjects with present application and to add more practical knowledge than just theories. Frequency of exams are like , two class tests and then semester exam ,you get two months at the beginning of semester without exams after which it feels you were just giving exams.

Fees and Financial Aid

1st year fees was about 68350 and from 2nd year till 4th year it was 67850. This fees includes tution fee and hostel fee and all other charges but you have to pay 20 thousand more per semester as mess charges. For other categories they don't have to pay immediately, they can wait for their scholarship and later they can pay, there is no fee concession as such. For fee waiver category, tution fee is not charged which is 40 thousand in total ,rest other charges and mess fee they have to pay. Up government scholarship is the main financial aid ,which reimbursement about 54 -53 thousand, the amount is not fixed though,it depends upon government budget. Mess security and hostel security money will be reimbursed as you passed out the college after submitting application with no dues form.It was very economical for me personally as I got scholarship all four years. This college has the lowest fee structure after Bundelkhand Institute of Technology,Jhansi. Even if you are not capable of paying fee at the time of hostel allotment, you may write an application to director and after his signature you will be allotted hostel and you may pay fee later. And college even refunded hostel fee of Covid time,as no one was alloted at that time . And college also provides merit base scholarship to those whom are not getting any scholarship from government .For a professional degree as Batchelor of Technology it is very economical college.

Campus Life

"Anubhuti" is very famous cultural fest of Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology and it also most awaited one among students. Our college also organises Sports fest named "Tvaran" in which various sports like cricket, badminton, carrom ,chess , volleyball, table tennis, and other athletics sports. "Effulgence" is tech fest organised by the college. Overall fest culture of college is quite nice and a year is full of such events . You can get all theoretical books to you respective subject and journals are not available, you get peace and studying environment in library along with high speed wifi, and it is most favourite spot for studying in summers as it got A.C. Actually classroom does not have such facilities, other departments do have projector and AC classrooms, but not civil engineering department,it gets very difficult to attend classes in summers , although it has one class with Ac's and projector which only take in use only at the time of project submission. There are different councils for different activities and head of the council is most involved senior which had been given this post by their senior, their is hierarchy in councils and decision are made by seniors, every sports has their captains as their representatives who put requirements and funds in front of college to organise any events , college grants the funds and seniors organises it .New member's in the council are selected on the basis of talent and behavioural aspects ,the one who tries to disturb the hierarchy is suspended from the council . Their is also NGO operating, named "Koshish" which was also started by seniors to provide basic education to the children of local and poor people,Koshish recruits new members every year ,and they provide their services till the final year ,they make sure koshish always runs efficiently and even alluminy seniors also comes ensure its functionality. Overall social aspect and college life is very diverse and enjoying.

Hostel Facilities

From the first till third year you get three seater rooms ,in which you get one table ,one chair ,one bed each. Some rooms also got almirah with lock but only in new hostels. You get chiller for chilled drinking water and high speed wifi and every hostel got playing room equiped with either table tennis, some with carrom board or chess. In the middle of hostel premises there is badminton court. These are college hostels and college allots it to the students on behalf of their CGPA, the one with high CGPA gets to choose hostel and room number he wants. Although it is very affordable with just only 10,000 per year. Some hostels are far from academic buildings some are close and both have their pros and cons . Mess is not government,it is alloted by private tenders , my experience for the first three years was very bad ,the menu was very nice ,they had huge variety but it was the quality, hygiene and taste where they actually fails. Although in the last year another contractor won the tender and he reduced the menu options but food taste and quality increased considerably,Now it tasted as home food ,it is a great change for freshers but made us suffer for whole three years.

Admission

I applied for ABES gaziabad, for the Computer science and technology branch ,and PSIT kanpur ,for the Computer science and technology branch,as these are private colleges admission was near about confirmed,I just had to submit the fee and join the course in whichever college I wanted, but in the spot councelling i got allotted Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology, Sultanpur,Civil engineering branch and after considering it as second best college under AKTU university and remarkably less fee structure i chose this college. The course i was offered at private institute was computer science and engineering which is the first choice of every engineering students,I mean mostly,But the only drawback was fee structure, i had to apply for education loan to get enrolled in those private colleges, and my whole family was relieved when I was alloted government college, although civil branch was not most favourite one,but I started developing my interest into it . During that period for the admission, you have to give AKTU entrance exam after which from your score you will be allotted college accordingly,Exam pattern was 150 questions,50 questions Physics, Chemistry hemistry, Mathematics each and you get three hours in total for the exam. Egibility for this exam is class 12 th. To get admission in government colleges through AKTU entrance exam, you have be under five thousand rank. Over all admission procedure was quite smooth and easy ,no issues as such occurred. But now AKTU councelling is based on your JEE mains scorecard,so no more different entrance exam, you just upload your JEE mains detail and you and involve in AKTU councelling for college allotment.

Faculty

I don't like Anupam sir, he was very rude and he didn't even came to class ,he always use to make students stand in his cabin,he uses to teach Steel Engineering but never taught a single class on the board,he just used to brag about his accomplishments and his degres and researches, My favourite professor is Mr. Harendra Kumar Gupta sir ,he is the nicest person you will find in the college,he listens out students and tries to guide them,he was very friendly and students always respected him utmost and were never scared to reach him for any problems.Other faculties were neutralif you daily attend all the classes they are always there for you ,but if you don't attend classes you might get end with scoldings. As it is self management government college, questions paper were set my respective professors and marking was linient,You may score really good marks even just covering previous year question papers, which you'll be provided by seniors. Even if you ask them about career guidance or study routine for such issues they were really helpful. But the quality of education is not top notch, when you see the difference in quality of education between professors and other education platform, which students generally prefer for gate preparation, you might end up with attending less classes. With the quality of education that professors provide,it is near about impossible to crack any exam ,it is only helpful to score in semester exams and in getting good CGPA's.And the actual problem is professor general solves easy problems in class which are not at level of competitive exams and some of professors set semester exam paper accordingly that is with easy questions, which do not motivates students to go deeper into concepts .But Pratyush sir , generally teaches easy concepts in class and set semester exam question paper much difficult, which forces us to study with much deeper concepts because you never know.

Night Life

There is no gym in the campus . There are four cafeterias in the entire campus, campus is huge and you get one cafeteria around every corner. Generally cafeteria are opened till 10:00 at night. Library timing are from morning 9 to evening 5' o clock. For the boys there is no such restriction on hostel timmings you can go anywhere and at any time. For girls hostel timing are 7'o click at evening in summers and 6'o clock in winters ,girls do have restrictions, they cannot avoid this timings. The whole college is hangout place because after 10 at nights you cab sit anywhere around the college, Madrasi cafe is most famous cafeteria and it opens till midnight, although there are guards everywhere but they don't stop boys from roaming the campus at any time. Locality is not that safe for girls as there have been incidents of eve teasing by the locals as it is rural areas ,but inside the campus there is no such issues.

Other Applied Colleges

ABES Engineering College | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

For me it's fee structure was lot more expensive and too far from my home.
