What Students Say
Likes
- All amenities are available in the hostel premises. But most of the good ones come at a price. On the other hand there is a free gym and considering all things is the best amenity provided for free
- Quality of the infrastructure, campus amenities and learning facilities are all good
- Boy to girl ratio in the entire college is about 4:1 but the ratio skews depending on the course.
Dislikes
- Very costly and less time to enjoy these amenities
- Food quality and quantity both are very lacking for the price.
- Placement services is very competitive and cut-throat. But with enough preparation should be doable.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course provided in VIT vellore is the automotive engineering course which influenced my decision by a lot, the curriculum while more twisted towards theory still has lab components which do prepare for real world applications
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are good but most of them are start-up companies which neither pay you nor do they provide good experience, but there is a certification for the completion of internship, other wise during the main internship period the opportunities are very scarce but the college does provide some opportunities.
Placement Experience
Placements of VIT vellore, is advertised to be a 100%, but this is only true as the placement examination which is a whole seperate exam unique to placement services are held and those are what you need to pass to even sit for placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearwise fees is about 3lpa as the fee structure is in categories, 1st category the fees is 2.2lpa, 2nd category is 3.2lpa, 3rd category is about 4lpa and 4th category is about 4.5lpa, 5th category and in joining year was the last category and the fees were about 5lpa. All fees structures as in lab or development fees are combined into 1 fee structure which is the category fees. Scholarship is given based on your rank in the VITEEE examination which VIT takes personally. Based on my knowledge, the scholarship ends on the rank 1000 and below and about 3lpa return for top 100 ranks. The fees do increase every other year but not by a substantial amount.
Campus Life
It is very good , I talk to many people from all age and gender. There are 2 fest in this college during which we are not allowed to leave campus. One is technical and other is cultural we have a lot of fun.
Hostel Facilities
It is the people that makes hostel interesting and better. Meal quality is as good as other Colleges. But still there are 3 total messes in the hostel, veg, nonveg and special. Facilities are good if you get a good cgpa.
Admission
I applied to some NITs and got a confirmed addmission from SRM-ktr but I chose VIT due to its more popular influence abroad and my jee preparation was not up to par for NITs. Addmission process for VIT is to clear the VITEEE exam and get a rank to get the course you want.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is decent but student-teacher relationship is not that easy to maintain as there is not enough time for the most to keep in contact as much but on the other hand apart from the teacher's own time constraints they are quite approachable.
Night Life
There is close to no nightlife in VIT vellore, and the only nighttime activity in the boys hostel is the night mess ( if you even can call it one), and the night library, in which if you don't want to study, can just hang out with friends silently.
