Course Curriculum Overview
Well I would rate the curriculam as in for 7/10 as Ancient history might prove soem good use to you if you wih to continue and study in archeology. At ADc the curriculam was highly optimised at it focused on telling us how the subject was interconected and how we can take its help in modern day problems. However, since all the lectures were in Hindi and mostly they avoided English it became a bit tough for us to understand the nature and laguage of the subject. The timing and the frequency of exams were however good for us as we had to appear just once in the year for examinations and the paper level were also quiet decent and were enough to make you brainstorm, think and then answer the questions asked. Every course needs and upgrade and so did these as well, however it may be tried to enhance the basic concepts to biLingual approach where it would be easy for everyone to understand the basic motives of the subject.
Fees and Financial Aid
Allahabad University affiliated Allahabad Degree College has been one of the most prominent and important educational institute for past 15 years in Prayagraj. After Main campus, CMP and ISDC, ADC has been the top choice for students to pursue their dream graduation courses. The admission process was earlier taken in at by the process of UGAT (Undergraduate Admission Test) which has now been eliminated and admissions are now based on the scorecard of CUET test. The fees for 3- year graduation course are paid annually, while you enroll yourself each year. The Graduation courses are of basic cost of 4500 which are paid in three parts annually each year when you take admission in further year classes [?1500x3] till third year. If you are registering for semester based examination mode then the fees will be paid semester wise. Registration Fee of ?500 is taken while at the time of registration for the desired course. The Charges and fees are simillar for everyone. There is no much difference however those subjects which have praticals and Viva included are charged with ? 250 per practical subject. Students can also apply for scholarship in the college to get fee concesion. Scholarships offered are upto 50% of the amount of the course fees. The selection process for scholarship is based on the reservation system. However if you are lucky you can avail the scholarship and get good deduction in your course fees.
Campus Life
At ADC you don't find much college life part as you have literally low friends and that too there is a very small circle around which you and your buddies will rotate. There is one annual function day which is held in the month of October- November rest sports meet and everything has to take place in main campus. There is a library in the college but it is quite useless and the book lending process is quite difficult. Facilities have nothing much interesting in the classrooms as well as here you only get steep benches and tables which are rigid enough to tear your answer sheet while righting upon it. There are no student union or clubs also to entertain or socialise within so your are totally upon yourself in this part as well.
Admission
Before applying in ADC, I had applied to CMP, ISDC and the main campus itself. However, Since i was from science background and my transition to arts subject was totally a different decision. Then at last when I scored in my UGAT test, I got only ADC as my last option. The Hypocracy of this UGAT was that even below avg. fellows got main campus while I had to suffer just because of reservation. In fact if I were had been rejected from the other colleges on the base of academics it would have been less painfull rather than being rejected by reservation system. As earlier mention, Now you can take admission in ADC via CUET exam, where avg. cutoff for general is around 150, and so on (as per UGAT standards).
Faculty
The Faculty members are far good enough in the terms of academic counselling and guiding in the selected courses. Each course has its own dedicated professor which has its own specialization in the courses. Teachers like Mr. Sunil Tripathi have great knowledge in the subject of Geography, While Mr. Vajpayi sir can give you fruitfull insights on the topics of Indian Polity. Mr. Rupesh sir will definetly help you in your English Literature and will improve your english skills as well. Overall the Professors are all good and better in terms of delivering education. However, There is a catch in this as teachers prioritise hindi medium rather than english medium due to which you might face some problems.
Night Life
There is no night life in the college as the college gets shut after 7 pm sharp every evening. However it is safe to roam around the college area at night as there are people and traffic which keeps the area all alive. The facilities like Library are there but are shut as soon as the college gets closed. There is no Gym or any other thing like that.
