Course Curriculum Overview

3

Our course curriculum is designed in such a way that after completing the course a student will be able to understand the socio political, socio economic conditions of the country. And will be able to investigate and differentiate the real and root cause of past events etc.

Placement Experience

3

University placement is offered to students of professional course such as Mba students, Mtech students etc. Every students of these courses are allowed to sit in placement round and placement is offered on basis on their performance in interview round. Usually the students who have more than 8 cgpa got placement. If 100 students are sitting in placement round, more probably 60 students got the placement. Other non professional courses, such as my course of Masters in history, we aee not offered any campus placement. Many students after completion of degree went for academic line and some went for preparing competative exam. I'm planning to do research PhD in history.

Fees and Financial Aid

We have to pay an amount of 15000 per Semester, which makes it 60000 for four semester and full course. Apart from course fee, 5000 are charged for different facilities provided to students such as wifi, Library, parking etc. This year particularly the course fee increased which was 12000 per semester earlier now it is 15000 per semester. There is difference between fee of self financed and Government financed student. As I'm a self financed student, my total fees is 60000 + hostel fees + management fees. Government financed student have to pay only 30000 for whole course.

Campus Life

4

Many annual program are held in university, including cultural nights, Mushairas, Art show, etc. Sir Syed day celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan founder of AMU is celebrated every year on 17th October. Cultural nights are typically organised in the month of September. Mushaira are organised in December to January. Many inter College sports competition are organised including Cricket Tournament, Hockey, Boxing etc. There are almost 6 lac books of different disciplines are available in Library for students. Daily newspapers, weakly magazine and monthly journals of different fields are also provided regularly. Every classroom of University is digital with digital projector, lab facility, Air conditioning rooms. There are many students founded groups including socio economic groups, socio political groups and many NGO's that are manages and runned by students.

Hostel Facilities

3

In hostel room, we are provided with comfortable bed, study table and chair, WiFi connection, an Almirah to keep our stuff. Food is cheap in term of prices as they charge only 2000 per month but food quality is not good. Both veg and non veg options available. Hostels are really affordable of AMU, and hostel facilities are provided based on distance from campus usually provided to students who belongs to other states and then to whom who belongs to other district. There are many pg's and room available for renting outside the campus but are slightly expensive.

Admission

As I was a internal student of Aligarh Muslim University, it was very easy for me to get admission in any course of University because there is internal quota system for admission. My dream was to get admission in JNU for masters in political science but I didn't make it in entrance exam. Admission process of Aligarh Muslim University is very easy and all process is online. After admission there is offline physical verification. Overall very easy process compared to other universities.

Faculty

4

In our department, Department of History of Aligarh Muslim University is one of the best history department of country. There are almost 50 faculty members and around 150 students of Bachelor, Masters, and PhD programme combined. The one Faculty member, I like the most is Prof. Irfan khabib, one of the best historian of country and known world wide for his significant and praise worthy work. There is no particular faculty member that I don't like all are good .

Interview Experience

5

There is an entrance exam for admission which includes current affairs, reasoning and questions of particular subject your taking admission to, 30% and 70% respectively. After entrance there is a interview for checking overall personality of candidate. I prepare for exam by myself.

Night Life

4

There is gym facility provided in every hostel. After classes students usually went to cafteria for Sip of tea. My favourite spot to sit in university is at games committee area for enjoying beautiful sunset. Students are not allowed to leave hostel after 10 pm and campus after 12 pm. It is totally safe to roam alongside the campus, there are many chai dhabas where students sit till late night.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I wanted to become an English Professor, the course really helped me a lot in getting an insight into English Literature. The professors are very encouraging. The curriculum not only relies on the traditional method of teaching but also various co curricular activities are conducted to prepare the students for the real world. Each student is given an opportunity to prove herself. As the exams are conducted annually we get a lot of time to prepare accordingly.
