Remarks

Does Xavier's Ranchi have a couple-friendly environment? , B.Sc Zoology, St. Xavier's College, Ranchi (2016) You will be little disappointed I guess to hear that Xavier's doesn't have a couple friendly environment. Little bit of roaming here and there is ok but it should not be more than a friendly behavior. Infact when I was in Xavier's, there was a time when students were called by Principal to inform that couples should not be seen in the campus otherwise strict actions can be taken. But yes there are couples hanging out together and we can make out that by their body language. They try to behave as friends when they are in campus. Like no hugging or kissing or even sitting very close to each other. I know there are some of the colleges where this is kind of ok but not in Xavier's

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Department of commerce at St. Xavier's College enjoys a pre-eminent reputation for the excellence of its teaching in this dynamic discipline. It ranks alongside the most highly-rated departments in commerce among the undergraduate colleges of this country. From a very humble beginning in 1946, today it is the biggest department of the college catering to more than 3000 students. Our academic program is of the highest caliber because we believe in the transformative power of ideas. Our faculty, and diverse student body from various social walks of life, all contribute towards the same purpose: to maintain the department's excellent reputation in education at the cutting edge of economic, institutional and organizational aspects of commerce.

Placement Experience

3.5

Because Xavier as best placement cell and many students are placed in big MNC companies and Xavier is the best college for B.sc. IT and the most important thing is it is an autonomous college and the syllabus of Xavier is very different with Mumbai University.

College Events

2.5

In Xavier's, we have the biggest fest of the Ranchi and no college can beat this fest. Fest is the biggest fest of the Ranchi. And there are many committees like MVM, Acuff and etc and they also organize the fests in the college and they bring the students all together.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is very high as compared to another college because it is the Autonomous College and the syllabus which is taught in the college is very different from MU. And for the BscIT course, the fees structure is 40000 per years and I think it is feasible

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, there is the scholarship facility available for the students who are from backward class and they provide fees concession for these students. The campus life is very good. And there is no gender inequality everyone is given equal chance. And in Xavier's we have to complete 60 hrs of ECC hrs by participating in the college fest and sip is also very important and we have to work in NGO and complete 60 hrs.

Campus Life

5

There is so much pressure on students, especially in secondary schools, to perform well in their exams and attain high grades. This, by all means, is not wrong – wanting students to perform exemplarily well in their exams is normal. The problem comes in when students have no life outside their classrooms; when all they do and think about is their books. They become zombies whose world revolves around books, with no room for their development as human beings.

Hostel Facilities

5

The Xavier have a hostel and also the mess facility available on the campus and the hostel facility is very good and there is sufficient space for each room and in each room, there are 3 students. And the mess facility is very hygienic and I can rate 10/10 for the taste.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, we have great personalities as our alumni and they are helpful to the students by providing their valuable speeches in the fest held in college. “The atmosphere for learning is quite exquisite. Small student to teacher ratio allows for more personalized learning based on the needs of the student. Every professor had an interest in each student's potential career path and helped direct them in the way they should go: physically and educationally. Overall, my experience at UNA in their Health Promotion and Human Performance program was challenging and very rewarding. I feel that the friendships and partnerships made while at UNA will go far beyond the walls of the classroom.”

Faculty

5

The department has a student strength of 1100. The teaching staff comprises 27, accomplished and enterprising teachers from diverse disciplines such as finance, management, economics, mathematics, statistics, information technology and corporate law. The B.Com (Honours) is a multi-disciplinary program consisting of seven core areas : Accounting and Finance, Management, Economics, Business Mathematics and Statistics, Information Technology, Business Law and Marketing. The syllabus has been framed keeping in view the academic and professional needs of the students in the era of the country's increasing integration with the global system of production, trade, finance and technology. The academic program consists of classroom teaching, tutorials, seminars and interactive sessions, assignments, projects and internship with firms and NGOs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the course curriculum is okay and the basics are covered well, which is one reason I choose this branch, but some subjects feel outdated and not fully connected to real industry work. It prepare us for further studies more than practical jobs. Exams come every semester with internals in between, difficulty is moderate but few papers become tricky. I think more practical topics, updated labs and better teaching methods will make the curriculum more useful...

Placement Experience:

In my college the placement system is not very strong because no big companies actually visit our campus. Students become eligible from 5th semester but still there is no regular campus drive. Sometimes small local garages or workshops come but they dont offer proper package, mostly they give training type work with very low salary. So there is nothing like highest or average package in my college, and only around 5–10% students manage to get some kind of job through their own contacts or relatives. Most of the students prefer to go for B.Tech or prepare for govt exams after diploma because campus placement is almost not there. My plan after completing the course is also to study further and look for better opportunities outside, since my college does not provide strong placement support. Overall placement in my college is weak and needs lot good improvement but the vishal sir is very good to get job for for others

Placement Experience:

One of my colleges best features is its placements program, which offers fantastic chances for students to launch their carrers. In the fifth and sixth semesters, students are prepared with aptitude training sessions, group discussions, and resume construction. About 85% of qualified pupils were placed during the previoes school year. Compared to core engieering fields, placements rates were marginally higher in IT branches.
