Doon university from my eyes

I have spanish as my major and i like the artistic and creative approach towards teaching for eg spanish culture, movies, music etc. The curriculum os good but i wish they focused a little more on grammar. They should make us watch more movies and music in spanish for fun learning. Exams are moderate

6th semester is when placements start but campus placements are only available for Language courses, no other course in this university has any scope. Amazon, accenture and shipra travels visit here and hire less than 5-6 per company. Highest for 1300000 per annum, lowest was 400000 per annum. Less than 10% got placed

Semester wise, the fees for my course is around 17000 and for hostel around 20000. Yearly its around 70000. For SC and STs there is a discount of 20% so the feest for them os around 55000 per year. Scholarships upto 80% is available for EWS categories. Other than that we also got a Scholarship from government of india in our 3rd year which was for the toppers of the class only.

Not too many fests and fests are very low level. Library is extremely big and good. There are labs. Cricket, volleyball, football, basketball, table tennis are played in this university with inter department competitions. There are many clubs like literature, dance, music, drama etc

Fan, electricity, bed, almirah is provided. Meals are quite good but hygiene is an issue. Hostel is extremely affordable, just 40000 per year. Wifi in hostel is not that good, most of the times it doesn't work

I chose this college because crowd is very peaceful. No cases of bullying or ragging, delhi university is very chaotic and delhi itself is too much for me, very polluted and very hot. Dehradun is cool

Faculties are good. There are Phd teachers and professors too. Teachers are quite patient with students, not very strict not very lenient. I like Sushila Kumar Sir from Spanish Department and Nitin Kumar sir from Mass media department. The best faculty in opinion is of Japanese department. The worst one i feel is french. Exam level is moderate and we have mid term and end term exam which makes it 4 exams per year. Majority of the students are able to pass except for Chinese department students. I think that language as a core is irrelevant.

There was no criteris after entrance. Only entrance. And in some courses walk in is there. Only entrance is the way to get admission in doon university. Otherwise you can try walk in. For entrance learn gk, English, basic maths

Gym is there in both boys and girls hostel. Hostel timings are 10 pm for both boys and girls. Campus timings are flexible. Outside university there are many affordable cafes and restaurants to eat. Pharmacy and hospitals and general stores are also nearby.
