Course Curriculum Overview

5

For the subject journalism and mass communication, this college is one of the best college among others, they provide monthly workshops and practical lessons for every student. And i also heard the best and some popular TV journalist, cameraman, cinematographer, director are the pass outs from our college. Also they arrange an real short film shooting workshop for free every year for every 3rd year students, last year Director Srijit Mukherjee came to teach us. So in the teaching methods are very good to actually learn practically about all these. One think which is not a good impression for me is they provide too much Holidays, and sometimes the teaching staff don't come without giving advance information to us. The state university conduct exams every 6 month ( semester exams) and if you study well you can easily get 7 points above CGPA.

Internships Opportunities

3

Our college offers different types of internship to our students, and it varies to different subjects you are studying. For our Journalism department, they provide a 5000 rs stipend internship for the role of content writer, copy writer, assistant photographer, assistant cinematographer etc. but this opportunities ateonly given to few students who are good in both studies and practical. Also few senior pass our students comes to give us opportunities to work with them for their film making work. Overall we learn a lot from every where in this college.

Placement Experience

1

Our college don't provide a big placements like other colleges, but instead they offer internships and workshops. Very few, high quality students get one or two job opportunities. But overall they prepare us for future, and help us to get good experience to get a job after completing the degree or studying next for masters or other fields. I'm planning to complete master in Film studies after completing my graduation degree, from Bishwabharati.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee Structure and Affordability: My yearly fees for APC College is quite affordable amounting ?6000 including Tution fee: 760/- Medical fee: 180/- admission fee: 150/- development fee: 900 and lab fee: 760 ( and others ). Also my other department batchmates fees is quite similar to mine, which varies from 6000- 7000 as per their practical class fees. This makes the college more accessible for every region students from various financial backgrounds. Workshops & Scholarship: The college provides a minimum of 5000 monthly scholarship for the students who demonstrate merit or require financial assistance. Additionally, the college regularly conducts workshops, both paid and non-paid, offering students practice exposure and enhance their learning experience. Facilities amd campus: APC college has a spacious campus with a lust green environment, and the infrastructure includes air-conditioned practical rooms, ensuring comfortable environment for studying, and student well-being.

Campus Life

5

APC college has a spacious campus with green environment and plenty of trees, which creates a serene at6for studying. The infrastructure includes air-conditioned practical rooms with computers and other machines ensuring a comfortable environment for learning. Aquagard water purifiers are available, the bathrooms and class rooms are aso clean and tidy. They have a big librery room where anyone woth valid pass can come and study, Additionally, the college has a gym room, and anyone interested in sports can participate in various activities. Our Journalism department organises "GEONORA" which is program where any department students can participate along with other college's journalism department in an inter College competition.

Admission

I in total applied for 11 college, 5 for journalism and mass communication, 2 for English Hons, and 4 for geography honours. But my main goal subject was to get admission for journalism and mass communication in Ashutosh college, but i didn't get my name on their list ( i was 100 names behind in the list ) and the other 10 college i got my name, so i reasearchd a little about which could be the best among the other 10 college's, and during that time, i was in fear what if i didn't get addmission anywhere at last so i got admission in vidyasagar college for studying geography honours, and finally i realised APC college is the best college for J&MC. Their wasno eligibility test for getting addmission in APC college, if you get your name on their name list you just have have to pay the addmission fees, and the 1st semester fees amd then you can get direct admission. They make atleast 5 list of names, it's not very difficult to get in but if your marks are less than 70% it can get hard a little bit.

Faculty

4

The staff and teachers at APC college are supportive and approachable they focus on impacting quality education and ensure that students understands their subject well. The class teachers and HOD'S maintain discipline while being friendly and understanding, which creates a balanced academic environment. Among our 3 faculty teacher's, our Hod ma'am specially is very popular in other facilities also, as she is the board member of state university, she always tries provide her students the best of everything possible. There is a semester system exam ( for 3 year graduation) and every semester we have alloted a seat in other colleges to give our semester exam( 50 marks overall, varies with different subjects). And the other internal and practical exams we have to give in our own college.

Night Life

2

We have Gym, librery, affordable cafeteria, union rooms, jhill par and big campus. My personal favourite hang out spot is jhil par. The college closes for normal students at 6pm, and come back time of hostellers is 7pm, the hostels staff are pretty strict amd don't let their students out of the campus but they can hangout in and around the college. The locality is not that safe as it's a pretty lonely place, but inside the college is same. Also we have Masi's dokan beside college she sells the best chowmin and paratha torkari, even better than our college cafeteria.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

Course Curriculum Overview:

From my childhood, I'm into music and this course allows me to further widen my knowledge of the entertainment industry, films, Television and etc. So this course will allow me to understand how media and journalism world works, and help me pursue the art that I love. The timings could be better of the college, but rather than that everything is mostly good. The frequency in my opinion, should be reduced to 3 main semester exams, and to have small mid semester exams throughout. That's my perspective.

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

Course Curriculum Overview:

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks
