What Students Say
Likes
- The facilities were great which includes the infrastructure, lab, canteen, and classrooms.
- The location is just perfectly accessible and not so remote. Peaceful ambience is also a highlight.
- Since the college is autonomous, the publishing of results and the conduct of examinations are very quick and convenient. Placement percentage is very high compared to other colleges. Even mechanical engineering has almost 50 percent students placed.
Dislikes
- Sometimes I feel that the faculty members are a bit too strict.
- Some of the teachers are well qualified on paper but are unable to share their knowledge properly to students.
- I didn't feel that my skill developed so much when it comes to engineering. It's the problem of the course more than the college. I have gained more theoretical knowledge than practical knowledge.
Course Curriculum Overview
Teaching methods are good to be honest. Problem based subjects are dealt with pretty easily by the faculty. Since they try to rush the syllabus, it's a bit difficult to understand some portions. In my opinion, semesters should be a bit more lengthy. In the case of internal exams, the schedule follows a routine of 2 exams per day which is a bit hectic.
Internships Opportunities
There are many internship opportunities that our college provides. If we are interested to go for internships and workshops, the faculty is always ready to help. For me, i didn't want to go for many internship programmes. So, I only had the opportunity to visit MILMA plant, tripunithura for my compulsory internship with no stipend.
Placement Experience
Students can sit for campus placements from sixth semester onwards. In my case, i attended 4 interviews and got placed in Amphenol Communication Solutions finally. Highest package for mechanical engineering students: 6LPA ( Alstom).Average package: 3LPA Almost 50 percent students got placed from mechanical batch.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees per year for general category students: Rs 87000 Now it has been increased to Rs 105000(my sister is studying there now) Hostel fees: Rs 1 lakh per year( girls hostel) Caution deposit: Rs 10000( will be refunded on successful course completion) Fixed deposit: Rs 100000( refundable) SC/ST category fees: Rs 10000 per year( my friend had the same fee) General fee is the same for college merit and government merit. No extra lab fees( 110 Rs per book for record books)
Campus Life
There are many fests occuring yearly which includes Bharatham(arts fest), Tekshetra( tech fest) and Abhiyanthirik( National tech fest). Arts fest usually occurs in September- October and techfest in february-march. Our library is very vast and has a wide range of books on each technical fields. We also have a department library for mechanical engineering. There are many sports and extracurricular activities that you can be part of. Ktu sports tournaments and sports day activities are the highlights. Many workshops, training sessions, add-on courses are there to help in gaining activity points. The facilities and technological provisions available in the classroom are top notch including a smart board and projector in each classroom. I enjoyed my campus life a lot and I miss being a student.
Admission
I wrote the KEAM examination and my admission to this college was based on my KEAM rank. My rank was 26362 so I couldn't get into any of the government colleges. In the first allotment I got SCMS and in the second one, I got FISAT. It was the third allotment in which I got admission to RSET.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is perfect. The faculties are very much approachable except for a few who are a bit arrogant. Athul Sathyanath sir is the most friendly faculty in the whole campus. Also, he is very knowledgeable and kind. Rathish T R was our class teacher. He was a bit too strict but his commitment towards our improvement needs to be appreciated. Even though he scolds us, he knows that it'll do no harm to us instead will help us improve a lot. I miss my college a lot. RSET promises quality education and i can guarantee that. There are about 140 exams in total out of which almost 80 exams are internal exams. Pass or fail percentage depends on the subject and c programming was the subject in which the most students failed in our class.
Night Life
There are 4 cafes inside the campus itself which is very convenient. Outside the campus, there are a lot of restaurants and cafes which offer wide variety of food and drinks When it comes to night life, RSET is not the best. There are curfew rules in the hostel for hostellers. But for day scholars, there are happening places near the college like donut factory, vibee the cafe where music events take place almost daily. There is a gym inside the campus. It's not free but only a minimal amount needs to be given as a few for gym access. The locality is safe to hangout at night if you can stay within a 2 km radius from the campus
Other Applied Colleges
Federal Institute of Science and Technology - [FISAT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical and Electronics Engineering)
RSET seemed to be better in placement stats
