Course Curriculum Overview
BSc. in medical lab technology is a very demanding course nowadays . It's mostly a practical based degree which gives you the vast knowledge about different types of disease & their diagnosis. The patient interaction , sample taking , making slides , performing different tests to know the actual disease are different aspect of the course.The 6 months paid internship also gives good work experience which is very important.
Internships Opportunities
After the 3 years course 6 months paid internship is mandatory to do.A total of 15k is given as stipend. Students are posted in various departments during this time where they get the best in hand experience .Internship period is kind of hectic though.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees for the bsc.medical lab technology at School of Tropical Medicine Kolkata is 15k. Additionally you have to pay 3k while taking admission.1k is actually the caution money which is included already. The different type of govt aided scholarships are available .Say Swami Vivekananda merit cum means scholarship is available which provides you 60k manually.
Campus Life
The annual fresher's novanto fiesta & farewell programme adieux is held here every year.1 week before different games & quiz competition is held here. So.e local bands come to perform on these days. The library is centralized consisting of diff books which are not easily available in the market.A lot of well known researchers used to come here.so library is also a heritage part here.
Admission
I got into this college through the JENPAS UG exam conducted by west bengal joint entrance board. This college is on the top list of all colleges where the course is offered. I had a rank of 453 which made me eligible for this college in the 2nd round of counselling . The general cut off rank is approximately 480 for this college My admission experience was good.the staff members were helpful .
Faculty
The faculty student ratio is good enough as the capacity of the batch is not that large. Faculties do take classes regularly & they also helps in all practicals & hands on experience. We have Dr.Swagata maam , Dr. Ankita maam who are very good & experienced at their subjects. There are many internal exams which happen on a regular basis.The final exam happens at august mostly. The paper is prepared by the health university of west bengal.
