What Students Say?
Likes
- Good opportunities for students who work hard
- Sports and recreation facilities are also great
Dislikes
- Batch size is very large and student specific focus is less by the teachers
- Academically could be much better, you'll have to study mostly yourself
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum has been updated and is much better than before. New subjects and labs have been added to focus on the latest technologies especially in the field of computer science, such as Machine learning lab, Data science lab and more. Changes have been made to the course curriculum as well and its much more relevant now
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunites are less compared to placements. About 60-80 companies visit for internship and less than 200 students get on campus internship. The average internship stipend is around 50-60k and the role is mostly for Software Engineering. Students need to have proper resumes and have 2-3 strong projects to get an advantage over others and should be strong at DSA
Placement Experience
The placements are good and have been recovering well after the pandemic and recession. Companies start coming in 7th Semester for Placements and the number is around 250+. Most of the students having cgpa above 7 are eligible depending on branch. The highesrt package is 64lpa domestic and average is 15lpa considering all branches. About 70% students get placed. Earlier the number used to be higher but the market is recovering currently so its not that great
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The total fees varies every year and increases by about 5-10% every year. The fees starts from about 2 lakhs for first year and goes upto 2.5 lakhs for the final year. This does not include Hostel fees and you have to pay separately for that depending on the hostel you opt for(AC/Non-AC). Scholarships are available for students based on category, parental income and merit, Merit Cum Need, State Government Scholarship and others
Campus Life
Engifest, the fest of DTU is one of the largest in North India and a number of big celebrities headline the event. The central library of the college houses a large number of books and journals from all the domains and provides past year papers of subjects as well. Sports and extracurricular activites are also offered including Cricket, Basketball, Football, Badminton and basically every single sport. There are a lot of societies and clubs for students to pursue their hobbies including Music, Dance, Dramatics, Reading Club etc.
Admission
The exposure of being in Delhi NCR is a significant paramter to choose the college as this unlocks plenty of opportunities and attract a large number of companies. The college has a good reputation nationally as well as internationally and provides plenty of opportunities. I had not applied to a lot of colleges and this was my first choice. The admission process is through the JAC counselling on the basis of JEE Mains marks and the cutoff for my course was around 12K AIR for Delhi category and 6K for Outside Delhi
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is not that good. Each class contains about 75 students or more and one teacher is assigned to 2 or more sections. Some of the faculty is really good and some aren't which is natural. There are only two exams in a semester which are Midsems and Endsems. Midsems are of 20-25 marks depending on the subjct and Endsems are of 40-50 marks. The remaining marks are for CWS or Practical Exam
