- As a government runned institute the accountability issue is there and delays in the work to be done in the institute.
Course Curriculum Overview
My cource which is civil engineering includes the basics of building and transportation and making the things to be used by everyone for a long run. It is a bit tough course with a hectic schedule. As of first year the branch specific courses are not there in the curriculum and will be in there from 2 hear onwards.
Internships Opportunities
Iit bhu provides internship opportunity with a vatiety of companies even to branches considered to be lower. All types of companies show up to our college to provide intership to the students for them to learn and even provide them pre placement offers.
Placement Experience
The placement in iit bhu is the best you can get despite of not being called an old iit. Iit bhu ranks 3rd amoungs all iit in terms of placement and has a higher average ctc amoungs its rival iits. Also there are job opportunities even for lower branches.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee is approximately 2 lakh per year for a general category and for obc students the tution fee is roughly the same but for SC and ST students there is exemption from the tution fee. This tution fee includes all the fees from labs, academic, development and all. There is additional hostel and mess fee which roughly adds up to 50 thousand per year which is to be paid by all the students regard less of thier category. There are several scholarship or financial aid opportunity provided by the institute though the mails by different organizations.Awarded to a limited number of students from economically weaker sections, covering up to 67% of the tuition fee. Eligibility is based on academic performance and family income. The fee have gradually increased over the past few years due to thee simple phenomenon of inflation.
Campus Life
There is active college life and club culture in iit bhu with a number of clubs and social and culture groups for all types of activities that you can imagine of. These groups and clubs are run by students itself with no involvement of the professors.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels for freashes are newly built with 3 seater rooms and neat and clean hostels. The mess food is good as compared to my iits with mess secretary managing the food quality and quantity. There are table tennis in the common room of the hostels. Students generally preffer to stay in the hostel despite of living in a pg or a rented room.
Admission
Iit bhu is a brand in itself. The major driving force to take admission in this college in the placement records and stats, which suggests that iit bhu ranks 3rd amoungs all iits in terms of placements. Tough the facilities provided are not at per the expectations to be in an institution like iit but the placement opportunity says it all.
Faculty
My personal experience says that the faculty of an iit is very well educated and qualified eith that they teach .The faculty at IIT (BHU) Varanasi is known for their strong academic and research backgrounds. The faculty-to-student ratio is quite favorable, allowing students to receive adequate guidance and attention, particularly in specialized fields of study. Many professors are accessible and supportive, often encouraging an interactive learning environment and offering help outside of regular class hours. Students frequently praise the approachable nature of faculty members and their willingness to engage in discussions that go beyond the syllabus, often including research and career guidance.

I didn't opt for this college because of poor placement records and poor growth opportunities with limited access to high level individuals.
