MNIT review by 1st yearite

While pursuing btech in civil engineering, I got to learn many concepts having real life significance. Also the course, I feel is very much relevant to the practical work , which is to be done after graduation. The involvement of AutoCAD is pain reliever as my paper drawing skills have always been disgusting. Exams occur twice in a semester and difficulty is 3/5.

Intership are available for 2nd yearites i.e. from 4th semester. Interships from Google , Microsoft, BMW are offered with eye catching stipends. Technical interships are mostly offered with good stipend. People are also willing for non tech internships , despite low stipend, to gain practical knowledge.

Placements are quite impressive for technical branches. For non tech branches placements are not that good . In civil engineering mostly people apply for Gate or government jobs like state PCS or UPSC ESE . As per my plans , I would be going for government job in civil engineering field.

Per year fees - 200000 Tuition fees - 62500 Caution fees - 15000 Registration fees - 1000 Institute fees - 18450 For SC / ST students - 0 tuition fees For general/obc students , like me , if family income is - Less than 1 lakh - 0 tution fee Between 1 to 5 lakh - 1/3rd tution fee -I availed this Above 100% tuition fee Note - The fee remission is only available to apply in the 1st year and failling which you will not be applicable to avail it in the consequent years.

MNIT has a large lush green campus of about 300 acres in area. Sphinx and Blitzchlag are the two main fest of MNIT ; technical and cultural respectively. Shpinx usually in November and Blitzchlag usually in February. Library offer a large collection of books and journals. Almost all course related books are available. Infrastructure is upto the expectations fully equipped with technology. It depends upon you , whether you want to involve in social things or not , clubs are a good medium to improve.

Hostel rooms are not spacious, provides with two sockets per student. For 1st yearites, triple sharing room is allotted. Hostel is not that good , walls are not painted , rooms are small too. But things get done , if complaint is filled. Mess is average, need improvement. Menu is fixed for week , so it feels like monotonous.

The college is in my home state, proximity was the main reason. The college is top 7 among NITs . I applied for MNIT only in CSAB round. Admission process is exactly the same as of other NIT , seniors are there to help you out during admission.

The faculty members are experienced and expert in their respective subjects. The professors are always ready to help. Exams are not that tough but require deep understanding of the topic to get good cgpa as people of same smartness are found in the branch.
