What Students Say?
Likes
- Every class was given a mentor who was also a phd holder who helped us guide for our interviews and also for career choices
- With career there was a balance of life through events and competitions
Dislikes
- It’s a pretty big campus but the transport within was only available for the staff. Students had to waste the whole day to complete a work
- Practical projects were not much included in theoretical subjects
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to opt for bba because i wanted to start my business in future. The course throughout had case studies related to real world problems and achievments. The only suggestion is the it can be made more practical rather than theoretical. And exams were once a semester followed by weekly tests. The difficulty level was average.
Placement Experience
From 5th semester students become eligible for placements only criteria is that there should be no subject he or she had failed. 2:5 is the ratio of students getting placements there. The highest package at that time was bagged by a student of 20 L per annun. The college had also tie ups with MNCs as well These placemnts were running throughout the last two semesters
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
First there is admission fees of rupees 20000 which is deductible from the course fees. In admission fees they charge for uniform and id card and the examination fees. Total fees for one semester was 43000. No additional fees had to be given, eberything was charged from the course fees itself. Those who had scholarships or reservation seats were given 90% scholarship (CUSAT) and 20% off on reservation seats. Fee kept increasing every year but for new admission. For the batch 2018 it remained the same till the course ended.
Campus Life
First your introduction to event starts from freshers party. Celebrities are invited throughout the year for concerts. There was aso a event called as sun down it was on till the morning and a famous DJ was invited from italy. There were clubs you could have joined like dancing clubs, poetry and so on. I personally started a club of interdepartmental competitions. Sports course was there as well and sports generally was given preference. Events used to happen kile rugby, tug of the war and so on
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility was good and clean. Ebery morning the housekeeping would come and clean the hostel rooms. There were different sections of rooms like 6 bedded, 4 bedded, 2 bedded, 1 bedded. There were also options for ac rooms as well. I was in AC duct room. Now they have installed central heating. Hot water was available. Food was average. If you wamt to opt for hostel you just have to fill a form and they will put you in one of the hostels. You can also change your hostel as per your requirement. In last semester i shifted to a flat nearby. The locality is mohali. There are lots of options for flats within a range of 2 km there as well
Admission
To apply in private colleges there is mostly no criteria anyone can apply. I shortlisted LPU, Christ university and CU. The final decision was CU because it was closer to my hometown. Other than that there was no criteria. You could have applied for scholarship known as CUSAT there if acored more than 80% you were eligible for a scholarship. Admission process was quite simple. You could have applied online and payed the admission fees online and once the classes started you could have payed the remaining amount prior to it.
Faculty
The faculty there was top notch. The ratio of faculty to students was more like 3:10. The faculty there is always available and very supportive of you. There was nothing a student couldn't ask them. And they guided us wholeheartedly. Nirmal maam was amazing, Anil sir was more like our mentor and very knowledgeable. But also there are professors who lack knowledge of how to deal with students one among them was Komal maam. Other than that faculty was well trained and well educated. Exams were semester wise. Each semester had one exam. There were tests every week to prepare us for the semester. And students were able to grasp the subjects very well. Hardly any student failed to clear the exam. The relevance to the course is always dependent on what is your choice of subjects. I chose tour and travel management as my specialisation because i liked the subject and the subject material was only rrlated to this
