Likes

Faculties are amazing at teaching as well as helpful.
Placements and Internship record is amazing
Campus Life is very good with different fests and cultural clubs.

Dislikes

Girls to Boys ratio is very low i.e. 1:7
There is a lot of academic pressure with 42 classes per course per semester.
75% attendance is compulsory to sit in endem exam.

Course Curriculum Overview

Some courses are actually old and outdated. But some courses are being updated to match the real world pace. Each semester lasts for about 4 months in which we have 2 exams and 2 quizzes for each courses. This becomes very hectic.

Internships Opportunities

Many companies like Google, Amazon, etc. visit our campus for intern season. They come for different roles like SWE, ML engineer, Data Scientist, UI/UX Designer, etc. Almost 200+ students get internship every year

Placement Experience

Many different companies visit IIT ISM Dhanbad for placements like Google, Amazon, etc. Average package for the college is Rs. 1700000 whereas average package for my course (Mathematics and Computing) is 2500000.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly fee at IIT ISM Dhanbad is Rs. 250000 for general and OBC category students whereas there is 0 tuition fee for SC and ST category students. There are several scholarship opportunities based on merit for low income students.

Campus Life

Several College Fests are organized every year like Srijan- cultural fest, Concetto- Techno fest, Parakram- Sports fest, Khanan- Mining fest, etc. There are also many cultural clubs like Manthan, LCI, etc.

Hostel Facilities

There are many Hostels at IIT ISM Dhanbad, but you can't chose it by yourself. Some hostels are pretty old whereas some are new like Aquamarine(which i got for my 2nd and 3rd year) with top class infrastructure. Mess food is ok.

Hostel Fee: INR 6000 per year

Admission

You have to clear JEE advanced to get admission in IIT Dhanbad. You get different courses according to your rank in JEE advanced. I was getting some other top ranked IITs but with lower branch but I prioritised branch over tag.

Faculty

Faculties are very knowledgable and have experties in their field. They are almost always helpful. 75% attendance is compulsory for sitting in endsem examination. There are two examinations per semester- Mid sem and End sem with 32% and 42% weightage each. There are 2 Quizzes per semester with 10% weightage each.

BIT Mesra is Musical!!

Placement Experience:

Mechanical branch in terms of number of students placed is quite high but if it is about how many students get elite packages it's less. The average for our branch at our college is 8-9 lakhs but top companies which are into our core space for long are our college partners.

BIT Mesra is humongous!!

Placement Experience:

My plans after degree is to pursue masters or right away get on with my family business as we are already into trading chemicals. However, from the number of students from our stream that apply for jobs through campus, over 80% are placed from campus. Labs to industries that deals in manufacturing of chemicals and exporting the same are the ones where students of our college get the opportunity.

BIT Mesra is Magical!!

Placement Experience:

Highest package from our campus is eye catching as it's 56 lakhs and for chemical branch it was 34 lakhs. HUL, Sun Pharma, public limited labs and various R&D research centres are those that have helped us to get best available jobs in market as the competition is high but BIT Mesra has still managed to place over 80% students last year.

BITS Mesra is Magnificent!!

Placement Experience:

From second semester we are taken for an hour session for special training. It is optional till 4th semester but from 5th semester onwards, it becomes mandatory and we have no choice but to go through that hammer. Finally, from the last year's 1st semester companies starts coming and we can apply for the same and that is how placements are done here.

IIT dhanbad the untold story

Placement Experience:

the placement rate depends on branch.some branches like cse,ese will have a high placement rate and for small branches like mechanical and chemical will have less placements .the highest package is around 60lpa.

Read this before joining BIT Sindri.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities is decent for students. The placement of BIT sindri varies from branch to branch but the core brances like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering has evergreen placements. Among the eligible students around 90 percent students get placed. But in branches like civil and production engineering, its not the same. They have very low placement rate around 20 to 30% of eligible students get placement. For CSE, IT & ECE the placement is highly dependent on the situation of market and it varies early. The students are eligible from 6 the semester onwards for placement . The placement drive starts from August or September and companies visit till students graduate. The top recruiters are TCS with more than 80 students from overall campus , TATA power nearly 20 , LNT, JSW , Vedanta , TATA STEEL, JSL, ADANI, ABG , Shyam steel and For it sector companies like samsung , cognisant, hitachi, TCs, Spyder visited for 2k21 batch. For the batch 2020-2024 among batch size of 710 around 620 offers were made. The highest package is given by samsung which is around 28 LPA , students of CSE, IT, ECE and Electrical are eligible. For IT sector average package is around 6 lakhs. For core sectors companies heightest package is offered by vedanta to Electrical, Mechanical, Mining which is around 14 lakhs average package is around 7 LPA.. Around 75- 80 percent students get placed during campus placement drive. The Wish to crack GATE and join PSU after my graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is slightly outdated due but still it isnrelevant due to research oriented branch. The areas they can improve is by adding practical subjects more than theoretical one. Exams are conducted twice every semester with easy to moderately moderate difficulty level.

All things to be considered before taking admission in BIT

Placement Experience:

After 3rd year students are eligible for placement the companies visited are google,jindal,TCS, aakash,PWetc.the highest package offered was 25LPA and the average was 5-6LPA.the place percentage was 60-70% because there are students who is preparing for civil services,GATE,etc.My plan was to crack GATE and get placed in one of the PSU's.

BIT Mesra Review in a nutshell

Placement Experience:

After completion of 6th sem students are eligible for placements. All major tech giants you name it like Google, Microsoft,Walmart,Atlassian,Flipkart,Visa,Texas Instruments,Arcesium,Salesforce..... etc do visit the campus for the placement and around there are around 250+ companies visiting. Highest offered was around 51 lakhs and average for CSE is around 21Lakhs. Percentage of students placed is close to 90%.

All You need to know about IIT(ISM) Dhanbad

As this is an IIT, To get admission here Firstly You have to take the JEE mains exam. At our time there used to be 4 rounds of the JEE Mains exam and Your maximum percentile among all 4 would be considered for a cutoff It was around 90% and to be eligible for give JEE advance Exam. The JEE advance exam happened in July, and its results were also released in August. After Qualifying JEE Advanced exam too you have to go through JOSSA counselling. In JOSSA counselling you have to give your list of colleges priority wise and you will be allotted college based on your AIR. After JOSSA counseling of 6 rounds, you will be allotted a college and then you will receive an offer letter from a college. For me, at IIT Dhanbad after taking admission firstly we were introduced to college through an orientation session with our respected director. After this we were called to campus for pre-registration for our course there we had to submit our documents and verify our identity. That's it !!...Read More
