What Students Say?
Likes
- The college is very cooperative and understanding when it comes to payment of fees or of any sort as they really respect everyone's financial background.
- The college has an amazing campus which really doesn't need us as students to rely on any external venue when it comes to events or anything as such.
Dislikes
- The college really indulges in alot of events with a low budget instead of piling up all the capital and hosting one of the best events over a span of a week.
- The delay in the timings of any event that takes places really drains the energy of the students and the participants of the particular events.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum/ syllabus of every semester gets advanced and is really a continuation of the subjects we study in the previous semester which really helps us relate and apply existing basics into the new concepts we learn in the following semester. The current syllabus and the difficulty level of the exams we write really tests our understanding and application skills to the limits.
Placement Experience
The college placements are really up to the mark and also have a good recruitment rate as well. Students from the 5th semester are eligible to apply for placements and sit for interviews if they do not of have any pending backlogs or other remarks from the management. The college does get reputed companies such as Accenture, EY, D.E Shaw as well. The highest paid package anyone has got in sju is 24 lakhs per annum a bcom graduate from the company known as D.E Shaw. Which really motivates other students to thrive through their academics and build amazing skills along the way to sit for placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The fee structure is based on the kinds of activities that the college has as a compulsion to Finish our degree year by year and it is included in the fees. Since the first year there were no major activities the college fee was rs.70000inr and in the second year the fees was rs.73500 due to various external exposures and events and in the final year it is about rs.78000 due to the rural camp they take the students on as a course completion activity which is included int he fees. The university does provide alot of scholarships and does provide a scholarship which is fully funded by the college's management for students family income below 250000 lakhs. They also put forward other govt scholarships and opportunities as notices to bring awareness to the students of the benefits they can awail. The fees for students out of state is higher due to the difference in relocation and certificates from other states and also their migration to a new state which does make sense to increase the fees for them as scrutinizing their documents would be a time consuming task. The one advantage of st Joseph's University is that there are no separate fees such as exam fees or admission fees or any as such everything is included in the college fees we pay as a whole.
Campus Life
The overall experience in the campus being a day scholar in the college is really pleasant as the campus has alot of relaxing places for students to gather their minds. They have perfect seating areas for students to meet new friends for the first time in between perfectly planted greenery which really makes being social easy for students and to connect with one another. The college posesses a world class library with amazing technology and has an unimaginable range of books which really helps students to learn more. Equal importance is given to sports as well and really helps students enjoy their college life representing their class and competing with others in the inter class competition they have every year.
Admission
I opted to this particular college as I was formerly a josephite as well and really liked the culture as well as the kind of opportunities they offer and the values they stand for is really mesmerising. The admission process was really smooth with lead with a test firstly and then an interview where they asked us questions on what we had learnt in 11th and 12th. The whole process was really easy. Other colleges i wanted to join was christ University Bangalore. The problem with this college was that they had really strict guidelines on the dress code and other aspects with their curriculum which really left no breathing space for the students to develop in their skills out of academics as well which is why I chose Joseph's over christ and also Joseph's is really a more complete college which lets students express their talents in every field.
Faculty
The faculty members in the college are really qualified and experienced. Most of the faculty members are established professors who have a really decorated teaching career and qualifications. The teaching faculty really has a combined mix of fresher teachers and experienced teachers who mentor the fresher teachers which is really a very smart move by the college to get amazing teaching faculty as a whole. Most of the experienced teachers have PhDs or doctorates and multiple degrees which really shows how perfect they are in the subject they teach. The exam structure in the college is a 60 marks end semester paper and 40 marks that goes down as internals in which students write a midsemester paper for 25 marks and submit 2 assignments of 10 marks each and the total comes up to 45 marks which is later reduced to 40.
Interview Experience
Yes i did go through a very smooth interview session with a panel of experienced teachers who really tested me on the things I had learnt in my puc. I was asked various questions on all the subjects i had learnt and was also given a few problems to solve as well which tested my practical skills as well. Preparing for these rounds were pretty easy as it was everything I had previously studied with a touch of general knowledge as well.
