Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate my course 10/10. It is an experiential learning where entrepreneurship is not just taught but practiced. Unlike many B schools, we don't have to do summer internship, but we have to do a pilot venture which gives us hands on experience. It is way better and helpful than doing internship if we have an inclination of starting an enterprise. I would say my course is underrated and we as a whole class is planning to do something about it.
Internships Opportunities
As Tata Institute of Social Sciences has a brand name, It is not hard to find internship but it depends on the course and stream. Students of school of Management and labour studies can easily get internships
Placement Experience
Every centre in our college have their own placement committee and their average placement stats are also pretty good We have a central placement committee too which is open for every students in our college. As my course is especially designed to make us an Entrepreneur it is not stressed that much but still we have a placement committee doing excellent work helping students who feel like being employed before starting an enterprise
Fees and Financial Aid
Total Tution fees for the whole 2 yr course is 145000 which includes the 10000 refundable deposit Sem 1 - 51500 Sem 2 - 27500 Sem 3 - 39000 Sem 4 - 27000 Other than this, Fieldwork fees and expenses should be borne by students It might increase a bit next year.
Campus Life
Our campus is lush green one with amenities such as gym and various sports ground. Our library is one of the notable library where they have both hardcopy and ebooks which will allow people to access easily. We have an Entrepreneurship Cell which conducts Entrepreneurship related events every week inviting various notable Entrepreneurs and professionals.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is limited. They don't have Hostel facilities for every student of the college. It is basically allotted on Income basis. Rooms have basic things such as a bed, a table and a chair and a common bathroom. Every room has to be shared by four person. There is a dire need to improve the bed quality and size. Dining Hall provides quality food which will sometimes tasty, sometimes not. Hostel charges 18000 per Semester Dining Hall charges based on expenses but we have to pay 20000 as prepayment
Admission
1. The social perspective attached to it as I was inclined towards Social work. 2. This course was an amalgamation of everything I wanted to do i.e. Management, Entrepreneurship, Social work. 3. The experiential learning with Field work and Rural immersion. 4. The Tuition Fees
Faculty
Faculty are too good, even though they are old, they are very cool with students not just on academics, they take part in everything and very approachable. The faculty to student ratio would be around 1 : 30 The faculty I like the most is Mr. Satyajit Majumdar who is the dean of our centre. He is directly working with ventures all around India and just his experience sharing is teaching us more than what we could learn. We as a whole class eagerly wait for his class.
Interview Experience
It differs from course to course. For my course it was mostly about some basic management things and Social Entrepreneurship. We have to appear for CUET or CAT (for specific courses) and then GD and PI.
