Course Curriculum Overview
All the course structure takes about the fundamentals and foundations in the first year. You would understand the lens of disaster management and always try to see the problem from the perspectives you learnt. Improvements can be suggested to bring more external lectures for each subject other than that they are the best. Each exam differs, but approx 2 hours will be given.
Internships Opportunities
At the end of the semester, my school provide credited internship opportunity for a period of minimum 6weeks. It covers sectors from various disciplines, NGOs, CSR, Corporate, Consultancy and Government. Will get a more in-depth understanding of work and experience of work
Placement Experience
After their 3rd semester, students will sit for placement. There is Institute level Placement Cell and school level placementcell. One if a student got selected in any one of these, they are not eligible to sit for other comapnies. The companies change each year, and we can't be sure which company will come each year. The average package would be 6LPA and reach to 10LPA and more. Each year 90%+ students are getting placed. I would like to join the development sectors like NGOs and policy related think tank to connect to more with ground level works.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees Structure Sem 1 - 57,500 Sem 2 - 28,500 Sem 3 - 40,000 Sem 4 - 21, 000 For everyone the fee is same The student aid provided by the institute can't be available to everyone. With personel interview at instiutte level based on their circumstances, it can be availed and at the even semester. Scholarships are available at the institute level and Governmnet scholarships, too. A bridge scholarship is also available. Each scholarship can be supported from specific categories other than General.
Campus Life
My experience on campus can't be described in words. It gave a new perspective of life and how to approach the worls. It can be learnt in any situations but TISS gave an another notion about it and allowed us to choose which would we prefer to live the afterwards. The infrastructure is very nice and decent. There are sports and extra curricular activites continue to happen and students have clubs such as animal care club and quiz clubs and lot more.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are decent and affordable compared to non-hostel situations. The meal menu will be sent to the mail every week and it is prepared under nutritionist guidance. Each semester they have to pay for food and hostel - 38,000/- Registration process will be announced once you selected for the programme and will be updatedin your programme ID, if you need you can apply with the steps provided.
Admission
All I know was, I cannot continue my work in more mechanised or corporate world. I need to keep my thoughts touch ith grassroot level and only a social science institutecan bring that. TISS is one of the best institutes for learning different ideas and lenses. I have applied for other colleges like MSSW, Chennai and CHRIST UNIVERSITY, Bengaluru but when I got my result from TISS I didn't bother to attend other college entrance exams. There was no second thoughts. Whatever I got here, I would have joined.
Faculty
Faculties are great support of the course. We have the best faculties where your thoughts can be more crtitced and developed from within yourself. I wouldn't say who is best, because each of them are best in their own approach but at the endthe ultimate aim is to graduate a professional degree holder. hey would make a student who can survive at the very challenging situations. Each course would have assignmenst, presentations, writeups of the presentations and class test too. It depends upon faculty approach to each subject not just for institution guidelines but to make the students be interesed and can do it in an innovative way.
Interview Experience
Yes. There were 3 steps. I was a TISSNET student, but there wasn't much difference. 1) Written test - General knowledge, Aptitude and logical reasoning and English (100 MARKS) 2) DAF - Just a few questions about us. We have to write and submit. 3) Personal interview with a three-member panel from the course you have applied for.
