What Students Say?
Likes
- A very good and well stocked library, offering a wide range of books
- No ragging, there is a anti-ragging cell/unit in our college
Dislikes
- Very old infrastructure of the old building
- New cycle parking areas which were meant to be made are left undone
Course Curriculum Overview
The loved the subject matter and scope of economics, so I choose this course. However, our University (University of North Bengal) conducts exams in a course of around 4/5months which results in insufficient time to cover the whole syllabus and leads to a lot of fails.
Internships Opportunities
There are only organisation based internships in our college however the college library provides internship opportunities to the students. The college itself other than that does not provide any internship opportunities, rather they collaborate with different organisations each year to offer internship opportunities.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The first two semester fees were around ?5k(total) and the next two around ?4k(total) and the last is also going to be around ?4k(total) .The college fees is the same for everyone. Apart from college fees, we have to give exam registration fees which differs every time from course to course. There is no such segregation between tution fees and all of those, but on an average our monthly tution fee is around ?75/month amd development fees around ?80/month. There are a few scholarships for students whose family income is less that ?2lakh/year(Swami Vivekananda) which is merit based, based on your college cgpa.
Campus Life
A college freshers is organised every year in the month of September/October by the College Union and a Social/Annual Fest is also organised every year in the Month of January/February and the fest lasts for 2 days by the College Union. The library is top-notch. The classrooms however are not that good. The sports scenario is also quite good. There are NSS/NCC/Political Union/Sports Union in our college
Admission
So, I applied to a lot of colleges and also got accepted everywhere. But I wanted to study B.Sc. in Economics (Honours) , and the other colleges providing this particular course in our city doesn't have sufficient/required staff , so I got admitted here in Ananda Chandra College, Jalpaiguri. The admission pricess is simple they take students based on their 12(10+2) results.
Faculty
The teaching faculties are very experienced and the faculty to student ratio in our department is around 1:4. However the office staff are not that great. Our college on it's own only conducts class tests and Internal Examinations. Top notch education is provided here.
