Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

My interest is towards coding thats why i took IT. In this course, the are various subjects in each semester. In first year the subjects will be same for all the departments. From second year the core subjects starts. In 4th semester all the important subjects will be taught, that make us useful for the 5 th semester internship drives. The teaching method is excellent and interactive. It can be improved by repetive teaching method that helps to leanrn better every time and improve our performance in examinations. The internal exams will be conducted every month and at the end of 4th month or 5th the semester exams will be taking place. In our college the difficulty level of exam is standard.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

From 5 th semester a student is eligible to attend summer internship drives. Around 25 companies visited our college for software internship roles. Companies like D.E. shaw - 150000 PM , Arcesium - 125000 PM, Citi Bank - 75000 PM, SAP Labs - 35000 PM, Arista - 75000 PM, Morgan Stanley - 85000 PM, Fidelity - 35000 PM, BNY Mellon - 75000 PM, Intuit - 100000 PM and more visited our college for summer internship and most of them gave full time conversion too. Project plays importatnt role in placements, in my view it helped me to get placed. I did projects in machine learning, deep learning and Full stack development. Once you do a project, know about it entirely from scratch even it is a team project.

Placement Experience

5

In my batch currently the placements are happening. Around most of the students are already get placed. In my previous batch the placements percentage is more than 90% and some are students are opted for higher studies. From 7th semester students are eligible for campus placements and it starts from July. There will be more than 150 companies visited our college and some are pending, Overall more than 200 companies will visit every year. The highest package offered is 64 LPA(D.E. Shaw FTE Conversion) and the average will be around 12 LPA. Companies like D.E shaw, Google, Apple, Arcesium, Arista, Visa, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, Citi bank, IDFC bank, IBM, Micron, Western Digital, KLA, SAP Labs, Intuit India, BNY Mellon, HPE etc visited our campus. My plan is to getting placed after joining this college and fortunately i got placed.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Fees structure for my course B.tech IT(Self Supported Course) is 85000/year. Fees structure for other courses which is not ans Self Supported will be below 25000/year since it is offered by our government. It includes caution fees, admission fees, semester fees, lab fees. This will vary according to the courses per year. It also includes placement fees. Our college provides many scholarships for students. They will offer different kind of scholarships each year for different students. Example, There is a TN govt scholarship, that consists an amout of 27,000 per year.

Campus Life

4.5

Our college have conducted many events. The main cultural event is INTRAMS which will happen yearly and there is huge event called KRIYA where the prize pool is more than 10 lacs and there will be many events conducted in KRIYA, the registration fees is Rs.200 and once paid we can participate in any events. There is also other events like SRISTHI, LOGIN etc., which is also conducted yearly. On other side, there will be club events weekly and each event will provide a cash prize. In sports our college performs good in badminton, basketball etc., . In each classroom there will be projectors which will be helpful for ppt and the infrastructure of the classroom is good and makes us learn better.

Admission

I applied for many colleges in TNEA counselling. Among them PSGCT is the best regarding to placements, teaching methods, exposure etc. Even if some college perform good in placements but the teaching is not good and not in a standard way. In PSGCT all those thing are excellent. The admission process of our college includes applying through TNEA councelling and management. Fortunately, I got through TNEA councelling. My cutoff is around 195. If you have a cutoff more than 195 you can probably get into this prestigious institution by applying through TNEA councelling. The cutoff is from the 12th TN board exams. You need to apply in TNEA councelling and mention your choice list. My recommendation is to have PSGCT at top in the choice list since it performs better than others.

Faculty

4.5

The total number of faculties in our department is around 30. All those faculties are experienced. I like almost all of the faculties in our IT department. Among them i like the teaching way of my professor Anitha Kumari. She is good at explaining things in an understandable way. She taught as Advanced Data Structures and Algorithms which is more helpful for our placements. She conducted weekly assessments in coding. In our college, there are internals and semester exams and the difficulty level will be medium to difficult. The ratio will be 40 internals and 60 semester. All the questions asked are in standard format. The final grade will be from RA and 5 to 10. 10 is the maximum grade for each course. Mostly all the students will clear the exams. Our curriculum involves 5 course outomes for each course and totally there are 12 programmes outcomes.

There's a word outside about VIT that it has so many rules and regulations and they are enforced very strictly but it is not the case. The only thing that is important here is maintaining 75 percentage attendence and not indulge is smoking, drinking or drugs etc and everything will be fine
