Likes

I love our college campus. The campus is well maintained and no ragging is reported till date.
Our college is an all girl’s college so it’s a really safe space for girls.

Dislikes

Washrooms need to be properly maintained.
The classes are sometimes not properly organised often having two to three hour gaps in between two classes.

The course which is curated by Calcutta University even though helps us to gain knowledge about the subject but barely helps us to be ready for the work life ahead. So it's good for people who want to remain in the academic field only.

Class Size: 21Course Fees: INR 20000 per year

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Per Semester is ?3350 for English department. We don't pay yearly. During admission a minimal charge of around ?3k is taken. For science departments the fees are more due to lab charges and more. There are a lot of scholarships provided like Kanyashree but for those you have to be eligible under certain conditions.

Campus Life

A lot of seminars and programmes are held and students are often taken to different venues to attend various workshops. Apart from that inter college competitions and an annual fest is held during winters.

Admission

Lady Brabourne College is one of the most reputable colleges in Kolkata under Calcutta University specially for its English Department. And rightly so it has a very student friendly environment. I chose it over other colleges. The admissions are held online based on 10th and 12th marks.

Faculty

The faculty members are really cooperative with us but they are also very strict about the discipline and regularity. Also they provide us with enough study materials in class and through mails. Sometimes the lectures are hard to follow as they are often less interactive and more text based.

I don't have other choice because I am not a very good student so I choose BA ENGLISH and it is very affordable that College and my English teacher is very good the exams are also on time and it was not that hard and at the same time not very easy

My experience at my college

Course Curriculum Overview:

I haven't thought that I will choose Bengali as honours but LBC has a very good activities and also has internship opportunities. Our department teachers are so well behaved and loving. Their teaching method are so good. The semester exam held after 3-4 months. Yes there have very difficulties in those exams but I tried hard.

Placement Experience:

Usually 6 semester students get placed also very few. Almost 2-3 companies' visit packages are usually not up to the mark. The package is usually around 4 lac I would pursue post-graduation. Career counseling and orientations are done most of them go abroad for post-graduation.

Placement Experience:

Well the placement in this college is not good because very few companies comes for placement...well after 4th semester students become eligible for campus placements...some companies like TCS and ICICI who comes for placements well as i belong to English department i don't have a knowledge about the packages being offered to the students ....the percentage of students getting placements are 25% as few companies come for placement...now coming to my plans after getting the degree i will be pursuing Masters in English since i want to continue studying in this department

I miss my School life

LADY BRABOURNE COLLEGE - EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

1) I applied for Presidency University, Ashutosh College, Scottish Church College but I took admission at Lady Brabourne College because of its faculty and environment. The teachers of the college are very helpful in all aspects i.e. not only studies but also other problems. 2) I did not avail any quota for admission because the admission is purely based on merit. 3) The admission criteria are totally based on merit and without any entrance examination. Minimum qualification for B.Sc. Microbiology is minimum of 60% marks in 10+2 with a combination of science for general, 55% for OBC category, and 50% for SC/ST category. 4) On the counseling day, as the number of seats was limited to 30, so they made a list according to the marks received and called the names of the students who got admitted.
