- Faculty is very friendly in nature and has excellent knowledge in their respective domains.
Dislikes
- I think that there should not be the criteria of 75% attendance, falling which the students are not allowed to give exams.
- The assignments given by the faculty does not contain anything that makes you learn about the subject. It's just copy and paste.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is totally relevant to the respective course. It has all the subjects and topics that are trending in the industry. This has influenced me to choose the course. The curriculum prepares you well for the real- world applications as the subjects that are taught in the college will help you a lot at the time of placements and further in the industry. The examinations are taken at regular intervals which helps the students to take hold well on the subjects.
Placement Experience
Chandigarh university offers remarkable campus placements opportunities to its students. If you are in MCA, you are eligible for campus placements right from the starting of the second semester. There are a good number of companies that visit the campus including Microsoft, oracle, samsung, Airtel, TCS, Infosys, Bank of America, federal bank and many more. The highest package offered to the student of our department was of 14 LPA by federal bank, followed by bank of America which offered an annual package of 10LPA. 50% of the students got placed and the remaining went for higher education. After completing the course, students can also apply for services in government sector.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The fees I paid per year for MCA in chandigarh university is 131000. Plus 2000 examination fees per semester. Registration fees was 1000. So when I registered for the course in chandigarh university, I was told that I had to given an exam , which is for scholarship, named CUCET. I gave the exam and got 20% scholarship on my semester fees. After deducting the scholarship amount, I had paid 52400 per semester. Scholarship is valid only till the students are getting 7.5 or above cgpa in the semester exams. Failing which the scholarship got cancelled. My course was of 2 years, so the total amount I paid was 264000 including the examination fees. To avail the campus placement opportunity I had paid an extra amount of 10000.
Campus Life
Chandigarh university hosts a variety of annual and technical festival including CU Fest, Tech Invent, Talk Show etc. They also organises live concerts that are vibrant and engaging. Every department has its own library with all the relevant books and journals. Plus 2 huge libraries which has books of every subject possible and it also has WiFi facility. Classrooms are big with AC provided in each classroom , so that the students can sit and learn properly. The university also offers a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs so that they can participate both in intra and inter university competitions. There are also cultural, technical, social welfare clubs so that the students can explore their interests outside the classroom.
Admission
Before getting admission in chandigarh university, I had applied to various universities including Indira Gandhi Delhi technical University for women (IGDTUW), various NIT's etc. I got a confirmed admission from IGDTUW. I chose chandigarh university over IGDTUW because it's curriculum is more relevant to the industry. I got rejected from the NIT's because because I got a not so good rank in their entrance exam. Plus they have a very limited number of seats. The admission process of chandigarh university is quite decent. You can apply online and then you will get a call from them in the next 2-3 days guiding you about the admission process. Then you just have to register yourself on their website and give a scholarship exam called CUCET, which is compulsory for every student. The admission experience in my case was quite smooth.
Faculty
Faculty of chandigarh university is quite good and friendly in nature. They are experienced and have good teaching skills with great knowledge in their respective domains. Students can easily approach the teachers anytime in the college working hours if they face any kind of problem. Faculty to student ratio is 1:30. My favourite teachers were Mr. Anjul(teach Python) and Mr. Gaurav Bhardwaj(teach Linux) because they make study very interesting and easy. We have a total of 3 exams per semester, 2 are the mid terms called MST-1 and MST-2, and then final exams. The exams are quite average, not so easy and not so hard. 98% of the students pass the exams. The course curriculum is up to the mark with all the lastest subjects and topics that are trending in the industry.
